Life at Xavier's

My college is a college of excellence and a heritage college. It stresses on the need for discipline and advocates its students to do the same. Other than that, the staff and faculty are quite helpful and down to earth. Overall, this is a life you would wish for.

The curriculum covers everything it can in three years and prepares us for the outside market. It is very detailed and informative. The exam structure is semester based. We have 2 semester exams and each semester has a mid semester exam.

Yes, the scope of placements are really good. The Placement Officer and his team works day and night to accommodate new companies whenever possible. Other than this there's a lot of intership offers that are meted out to the students. The stipend range from 5000 to 50000.

St. Xavier's College has more than 84 fests throughout the year. The best among them is Xavotsav, which is the biggest cultural fest of Eastern India. There are a lot of vernacular, commerce and science societies that have their own fests with a lot of student participation.

The fee structure is quite feasible. A year or two ago the fees were hiked but once the students requested, they were brought down. There are government sponsored courses which are cheaper. If your course is self-sponsored, the fees are a tad bit higher.

There are a lot of scholarships that are available to the students. The government scholarships are well advertised in here so that the students can avail them. Apart from that the fees are okay enough to not take loans.

St. Xavier's College, Kolkata stresses on extracurricular activities a lot. Now and then we're asked to take part in the activities. The labs are well equipped and up to date. The Sports Department is also very active and hard-working and leaves no stones unturned while giving opportunity to students.

There are two hostel that the college has. In each of these hostels, a lot of students can be accommodated. There are facilities for lodging and food. The food is quite light and healthy. Apart from that, the hostels are perfectly safe.

There is a wide Alumni network that St. Xavier's College, Kolkata has. There's a saying that in every city of the world you'll find a Xaverian. The Alumni Association is very helpful and it gives a lot of support and help to the students.

Once the board results are out, students have to fill up the college form online at www.sxccal.edu.Post this, based on the trends, the college will publish a merit list. If your name is in the list you'll have to report on a particular date as given in the list and go through the admission documentation. If your name is in the list and you have the marks that you had provided in the form, your admission is inevitable.

The faculty is very diverse and up to the mark. Professors are recruited whenever needed. The professors are very helpful and most of the time they go out of their way to help you in any way possible.
