The bachelors and masters degree course of English hons is that of Calcutta University's. The syllabus is like any other English hons course from other Universities. They have recently changed the syllabus which is updated in their official website. The syllabus is criticized by many to be outdated. The curriculum is should include lessons on grammar as well. There were industrial visits of startups and BPO jobs.

TCS and one medical app-based startup visited the college for recruitment. We were given a reasoning and English test before proceeding to the interview round. The institution did not take any steps to train the students before these organizations visited for placement.

The college conducts many educational seminars, workshops to help the students broaden their horizons and get a better grip of the subject. The cultural enrichment program of BESC is very rich. Umang, our annual college fest is one of the most popular ones in Kolkata.

The fee structure is around 30 - 50k per annum based on the course. Students are to pay this fee on a yearly basis. This is on the expensive side. But for students belonging to the Gujarati community has a different payment structure like about a fifth of general students.

I did not apply for any student education loan or scholarship. Not sure if the institution offers the same.

Campus life - it's a ragging free space with zero tolerance for the same. Campus life is pretty good with well equipped classrooms, sports room, library, and lab. The debating society is one of the most notable achievements of BESC. This college has some of the most eminent public speakers not just in the city, but in the country.

There is an alumni program of this college with a website dedicated for them (bhawanipuralma). This platform keeps us updated with news, stories, events, and even lets one find their batch mates.

I got to know about this college through Google search with keyword "list of English hons colleges in Kolkata. Upon inquiring about this institution to friends, teachers, and family I got to know that Bhawanipur College is quite reputed. Compared to other colleges, they put up the list earlier and I did not want to wait. How I got admitted - 1. Fill up a form online with personal and academic details. 2. Wait for the college to put their list. 3. Go to the college and fill up some forms, and pay fees to get enrolled.

The faculty of this college, especially my faculty was exceptionally good - one of the main strength of Bhawanipur Education Society. They were very helpful and eager to assist anyone facing academic problems. They made every effort to ensure that their students get the help they need. They mostly hold PHD in the subject.
