Remarks
They should update the syllabus. Students are lagging in the professional fields. Instead of focusing on attendence they should include technology classes so that students can seek for more job opportunities.
Course Curriculum Overview
During my time it was affiliated to MAKAUT(formerly known as WBUT) but now it is fully autonomous. There are total 8 semester. Every 6 month. In each semester there are 2 internal exams, 1 practical exam and 1 external exam.
Placement Experience
If we talk about placement it nit good in any of the in genral private colleges. There is pool campusing that is all the colleges of JIS group participate. It is kind of decent 30-40%. But there is no internship.
College Events
You will get lots of activities. Cricket tournament, cultural activities, technical activities. There is inter department amd and inter college tournaments. And though the campus have 4 colleges you can enjoy the activities of other colleges also
Fee Structure And Facilities
During my time the fee structure was 3.7lakhs as semester fees in 4 years. Other than these exam fees + accommodation fees. Now the fees might have increased am not sure about this. You will get education loan as it is AICTE and NBA approved.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is one scholarship program by West Bengal government i.e TFW(tution fee waiver). Under this scheme those who are having family income less than 3lakhs per month will have to pay 3-4k per semester. But you need to get a very high rank in WBJEE. You will get educational loan also
Campus Life
All the labs are pretty much equiped. You will have a large play ground, a basketball court and a volleyball court. Cricket tournaments are there you can participate. You can also play football tournament.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rate is approximately 5k per month including foods. You will really enjoy the hostel culture. But all the boys hostel are outside the campus. So you have to come 4 times to campus for food. You will.get lots of PG options also.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes they are really helpful. You will get job updates if available. If you need any books you can ask them for. They are always ready to help. College has its own alumni group but students are inactive there. So btr to contact them directly.
Admission
There are 2 ways to take admission. 1. Taking either WBJEE or IITJEE(mains) 2. Taking their own test i.e. CEEAMPAI. During my time only option 1 was there. So with this option you have to take the entrance test via any one of these entrance test i.e. WBJEE or IITJEE(mains). You will be called for counseling based on your ranking. You will have to choose your college and stream. In option 2: This is their own test. GNIT belongs to JIS group. So based on this test you can choose your college among any one in the JIS group. This is kind of backdoor for those who didn't qualified entrance test and want to get into the college via management quota.
Faculty
Faculty varies from department to department. I was from Computer Science department. Faculties are really good and helpful. They help students a lot. If you have any doubts you are free to go to them. They also send good marks in internal exams.
