Remarks
Overall, this university is an ideal option for pursuing higher studies in the state.It is the oldest college of Odisha, establishment way back in 1868 during the British rule.The college has witnessed various students who went up to be very successful in their lives including Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das, an eminent lawyer and well known figure in Odisha.
Course Curriculum Overview
I did my B.Com here.The exams conducted are semester wise with 40 marks of written test and 10 marks for attendance and assignment.In the third year and final year (5th semester) you need to opt for either Accounting Honours or Management Honours.Accordingly your qualifications will differ.In B.Com, you will get to learn a lot of subjects like Accounting, Law, Economics, Business Environment, Computerised Accounting, Cost Accounting, Financial Management, etc.
Placement Experience
You need to register for placement programs even before you finish your studies, in the final year of B.Com.You will have a job based on your qualifications, even before you finish your final exams.No there is no internship program for B.Com level.
College Events
We celebrate various events such as Republic Day, Independence Day, Saraswati pooja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Annual Fest as well as farewell parties for senior passing out students.Various sports events, NCC, etc.are also conducted.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is feasible and affordable.However, if you belong to non-merit list, you may have to pay Rs.15000 or more, which might be an expensive thing for you.Please refer the website of the University for detailed fees structure.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships are available to poor but meritorious students, who are academically bright.You can get scholarship either from the University or you can apply for state sponsored scholarships.Since, Ravenshaw is not a technical university like IIT or IIM, loan facility is not available.
Campus Life
Various extracurricular activities are conducted round the year.These events witness active participation both from the student as well as the teacher community.There is no bar as to participating in these events with regard to gender, race or ethnicity, etc.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is available without the campus at the rate of Rs.850 per bed.Fooding is also available at government approved subsidised price.Also there is a cafeteria inside the campus.However, all these prices are subject to change as per the policy of the University as revised from time to time.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors of the college are very helpful.Both seniors and juniors maintain a cordial relationship with each other.The Ravenshaw alumni consists of past students who are now well placed.Even Madhusudan Das was an alumini of Ravenshaw.
Admission
The admission procedure is online based.On the basis of your marks you obtained in your 10+2 or equivalent exams, you can apply for admission.There is no explicit cut-off percentage announced, unlike other autonoms colleges of the state.On the basis of the number of seats available and the marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent examinations, the students are selected for admission and counselling.There are also quotas and reservation available for certain section of the society.For students coming under merit list, the annual fees is within Rs.2000, excluding hostel fees and exam fees.For others, its around Rs.15000.Well the fees might have been revised since I completed my course and left the campus.
Faculty
The faculty of the college are pretty good.They are knowledgeable and have expertise and experience of teaching the subject.Most of the senior professors are Ph.D holders while junior lecturers are Post Graduate.
