Remarks

My college does not have a good placement cell for law students while other faculties enjoy a good amount of companies and firms for placements.Otherwise Jamia has a good reputation in this field but it somehow fails to provide good placements.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

We had one set of exams per semester.During the course of the semester we had vivas, presentations and assignments for each and every subject that semester. So it was not very tedious but very relaxed.

Placement Experience

2

The only problem i had in my college was the placement cell. While other faculties enjoyed a good placement system we did not have any.Although we were recognised and appreciated as soon as we started searching for work but a placement cell would have no doubt helped us

College Events

4

We had freshers and farewell parties in college as well as hostel. We had diwali celebration and holi celebrations in college, the we had it in the hostel as well.Eid party and christmas and ramzan party. Then we celebrated republic day independence day and new years, both in college and hostel.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As our university was a central university, the fees was very low and affordable. My course was law 5 years and it was for 7500 Rs per year.I opted for hostel also and the fees there was also really cheap and affordable.

Fees and Financial Aid

The toppers got a good amount of scholarship. But our university is a central university and there fore the fee structure and hostel and food was very affordable and very reasonable. So we did not really need loans.

Campus Life

5

We had a lot of parties during the course. Now only in college but also in the hostel. We had separate farewell and freshers parties in college and then in the hostel.Along with this both of them celebrated almost all the festivals. So we were lucky to have 2 different parties for one single festival. Also, we had a lot of seminars and orientations and debates. Our university is huge, some or the other faculty keeps on organising events and debates and seminars which kept us busy there. Also then we had a whole 2-3 months full of fests organised by different faculties and 2-3 fests organised by the university itself.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel was subsidised so it was affordable for every person. The fees was very low including the mess fees.Rooms and infrastructure was very good. The faces there were very friendly and supportive just like our home.We had great facilities too there including washing machine, tv room, recreational room.

Alumni/Alumna

Our faculty was very closely knit.We had a great opportunity to bond with our seniors as well as juniors from the very beginning. They were always helpful during our course, guiding us and helping us settle in the college. We had a good knowledge about how to survive in college because of them.

Admission

The admission process was a bit long and tedious. We had to go through a thorough written exam organised by different faculties for their courses. After that we went through the interview process which took place after the result of the written exam.Interview was taken by the dean of the faculty assisted by 4 professors. This was in 2012 but now the process has changed a little bit.

Faculty

4

Our faculty was one of the best.We had teachers and professors from different university and fields.Experts used to come and teach us the relevant subjects which always made our faculty special.Guest facilities used to be invited for expert opinion.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Being very passionate about law it brought me closer towards the subjects i thought I'd never like. It's vast curriculum has made me like a lot of subjects and has also given me a real life applications and further academic achievement however I feel like the curriculum should focus on law subjects from the very beginning and teaching could be improved by further interactive session between students and faculty.

Curriculum in law faculty is based on bare acts and case material provided by faculty itself. Study is totally case based and very comprehensive. I choose law after graduation because I find law very interesting subject and it is very interesting.

There are not as such campus placements but the students secure ppos from the law firms. Majority of the students do not go for corporates as the field diversified in judiciary, litigation etc. The placement cell is working hard to bring in companies for hiring.

The curriculum is good for the real world applications as the course teaches us about the practical work. They can improve their course by adding more moot court practices during the semester and by giving the students the opportunity to practically utilise the bookish knowledge they are gaining.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very much practical knowledge based and helps the students to grow there legal reasoning which helps them to prosper in the profession. Also it helps them to read and correlate the real time judgements being passed, this curriculum prepares the students to understand the reasoning behind the judgements. Though the curriculum is practical knowledge based it still requires many improvements as these case are old and some of them are even overruled, also the we have to write very long answers which needs to be changed as new methods like ooen text book exams can be adopted to improving.

After 2 years of integrated courses, you can become eligible for a job. In law, there is no company, but if you have good communication skills, you will be placed in one of the high courts or supreme courts under a senior lawyer. I don't know much about packages. My plan was to go to Oxford University for further studies.
