BMSIT -The Review

The College is fairly good and one can join it he doesn't gets a seat in the IITs or nits. It's worth spending 4 years in this College and one would never regret it. If a person wants to have a life in Bangalore and to enjoy it one can surely come to BMSIT.

The course which I took is ECE and I made my choice on my interest in robotics and automation. In ECE we have a more flexible working options like we can go in the IT field and also in the electronics field which is not possible in any other streams. It gives us a more flexible working options. As far as exams are considered, we have 3 internal test of 50 marks every month and a semester end exam after 3 months. We also have lab internals and externals which can commenced by the VTU.

The placements are good as far as ECE is considered. The ECE branch gets most placements and the highest placements varies from 21 to 50 lac PA. The average package for ece is around 5 to 6 lacs PA. As of now no internships are given by the College and you need to do it on your own, however it gives the list of recommended companies from where we can do internship.

There are mostly 3 4 events in an year. The most awaited one is the utsah fest which is organised in march. There are different events held round the year some of the focus on cultural events, some are technical events some just for fun and music. We also have fest which are organised separately by each branch.

The fee depends on the year in which you take the admission nad will remain the save for 4 years. The fee is around 2 lac per year ie for 2 semesters. The hostel fees is around 1. 3 lacs per year but you can always take a pg or a flat on rent which is much cheaper around 70k to 90k based on your luxuries.

There aren't any scholarship for people outside Karnataka. How ever if you are a local the you may get scholarship. Sc and St students also get scholarships. There are many loan options available in the College We also have Allahabad bank inside the College and loan can be taken for there also.

The gender ratio is good but depends on the stream. There are usually 30 girls and 40 boys in a class of 70 but it depends. the labs are well equipped with the latest technologies and are well maintained. There are a lot of sports going on in the College some of them includes cricket, basketball, table tennis, carom board, chess, volleyball etc. we also have inter College sports events. The College have vast cultural diversity. People from all around the globe can be seen in the campus. We ussually have students form gulf and Arab countries, Nepal and Singapore. There are local students who have their rich culture of Karnataka and we also have students from north India and East India. Overall it a good cultural blend and there is no cultural descrimination. There are all kinds of students from very rich families to middle class people but it doesn't mattes from where you belong as far as your are in College all are equal.

I has opted for hostel in my 1 St year but now I live in a rented flat as the hostel is costly. All basic facilities like WiFi and electricity 24x7 are available. We have lifts in our hostel. We are give breakfast luch dinner and snacks in the evening. The menu keeps on changing and voting is done among the students for the items in the menu. The food is good. There are 2 and 3 sharing rooms available in the hostel. Single rooms are not available. For pg these are located near the College only. The average rent of the pg is around 6 to 10 k per month including food and accommodation. Flats are also Available for rent which costs around 18k for 3 BHK and can be rented by 4 to 5 students easily there by makes it very economical.

The alumni is very strong we have people from various job profiles. We also have aur own alumni association. We have our alumni meet very year. We have events which focuses on the interaction of the alumni with the students we have tedtalks organised in the College.

The admission is generally taken from Comedk and CET. The students who belong to Karnataka state can give both exams while other state's students can only give Comedk exam. There is an offline seat allotment process for which you need to come to Bangalore according to your rank in comedk. There are usually 2 rounds of counselling. Admission can also be taken as a management quota student but the fees is usually very high and I won't recommend it. Basically the work environment of Bangalore led me to take admission in the College. We get a lot of exposure the corporate world while living in Bangalore. We get to know different cultures and people around us.

The faculty for ece is good but strict. The teachers are supportive. The teachers here are mostly graduates form IITs and nits. Some of them also have a management degree. Most of the have vast experience of around 10 year in teaching. Most of the have published their papers in the international conferences.
