Remarks

No negative remarks for the college and the university. If you google about pantnagar university then you will be amazed by knowing that how great is this university. Pantnagar University became a significant force in the development and transfer of High Yielding Variety seeds and related technology. The Mexican wheat varieties, developed by Norman Borlaug were tested in Pantnagar and locally adaptable selections, like Pantnagar Kalyan Sona and other improved varieties were released for farmers. The university utilised its 16,000 acres of land to launch one of the largest seed production programs at that time, under the brand name Pantnagar Seeds, which became a household name in rural India. The contribution of the university was recognised by Norman Borlaug, who described Pantnagar as "Harbinger of Green Revolution". Therefore it is a pleasure for me to study in top 3rd agricultural university of India, one of the biggest university of Asia and obviously as stated by Norman Borlaug the university who fed the whole India by generating seeds of wheat i. e. The Harbinger of Green Revolution.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum in this university is very scheduled. The students are divided in sections and even sub sections so that every student should get equal opportunity to work properly in laboratories.Talking about the exam pattern of the undergradate courses, all courses follow a pattern of 50 marks internal and 50 marks external. The 50 marks internal is divided into two unit tests which we call hourlies(since the time duration is 1 hour) 25 marks each thus making total of 50.Rest 50 marks is for external in which the paper comes from other university or other examiner set up the paper. After completion of each year(including 2 semesters) a GPA sheet is generated.

Placement Experience

4

The overall placement of the university is good.Talking about the bsc.ag many companies like corteva, big basket, mahindra, tata, icici foundation, hcl etc.In food tech. Many companies like amul, perfetti van melle offer jobs to the students.

College Events

5

All the events of the college are organised by the Agriculture society of the college which includes events like official freshers welcome, agro fun fair, agriculture night, ethos. All the events organised by agriculture society of college of agriculture can be attended by the whole university students including students of other colleges of the university.Recently NAHEP ( National agriculture higher education programme) is formed by the university which organises various events in the university for grooming the overall personality of the students.Side by side it controls the liberal education courses like learning foreign languages, teaching students to play instrumemts, various dance forms etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is very much feasible in this university.Since it is a government university therefore the fees is less. All the u.g.courses except BVSc.(Bachelor of veterinary sciences) and B.Tech, have fees of around 40,000 INR per semester which include 20,000 of hostel fees(accomodation+food) and rest is the college fees. This 20,000 too is adjustable according to the food bill of the student per month. Therefore total fee of the year is around 80,000 INR and no extra charges for food or hostel. The bsc.Food tech degree(my degree) is not accredites by ICAR (Indian Council of Agriculture Research) like other degree programmes like bsc.Ag and community science therefore the students of bsc.Food tech pay rupees 50,000 extra per year (because it is a self financed course.Same is the case here for MCA).Therefore my total fees for a year is approx rupees 1,30,000 only (including food and hostel charges).Still i feel it is cheaper than other private universities and for the tag of this renowned university, it is obviously cheaper.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are hundreds of scholarships offered by the university. These are so many that even i dont know about all of them. But some common scholarships about which i know are rankers scholarship - given to top 3 rankers of each batch in each degree programme. It is about 8000 rupees per year. The students who have been admitted to the university through ICAR exam are given 24000 rupees per year.Any student if is a members of university sports team of 2 different sport is also offered scholarship of rupees 8000. Scholarship like mandi samiti, agriculture land scholarship are also offered to students by the university. Luckily i am the top ranker of my batch in my degree programme i.e.bsc.Food tech.So i got a scholarship of 8000 rupees this year.

Campus Life

5

Various societies are formed in the university like CHETNA, SPIC MACAY, VSM(Vivekanand Swadhyay Mandal), Agriculture Society, E Cell etc. These societies organise a number of events throughout the year(co curricular & extra curricular activities) which keeps the children busy throughout the academic year. The events are actively supported by the students.Talking about the ratio of boys and girls, there is a much larger portion of girls than boys in this university.Every year about 100 girls take admissiom in this university compared to 60 boys. Talking about sports activities, the university has its own stadium named after the 1st VC of the university which has all the facilities of sports. It includes its own gymnasium, 2 basketball courts, 1 badminton hall with 4 well maintained wooden courts, 1 TT room with 4 tables, 3 outdoor grounds for football, cricket and athletics, 1 snooker room, volleyball court etc.University team is formalised for every sport whose members are sent to play inter agri games every year. Economically, the university holds a very strong position. There is no problem fot students in any field be it studies ir sports. It has a well maintained library, stadium, laboratories and lecture halls. There is no sort of discrimination based on caste, creed, sex or religion.Infact it is strictly prohibited in the university.

Hostel Facilities

5

As i already mentioned above students have no other option (other than becoming day scholar) except to live in hostel. The 1016.29 acre campus does not have any hotel or PG facilities. It only includes 23 hostels for the students.Talking about the hostel facilities, all the boys are offered their separate rooms from 2nd year onwards depending upon the hostel management. In most of the hostel boys are provided with separate rooms but in some hostels they are kept 2 in a room. This depends upon the size of the room in that particular hostel i.e.whether to give it singly or to give jointly.Girls are always given 1 room for 2 girls in any year of the degree program except Phd.pursuing girls. The university has a rule for 1st year students. The 1st year students(both boys and girls) are kept 3 in a room of every degree programme to bring them close to each other and tackle out each others problems.

Alumni/Alumna

The 3 "S" are famous of this university. These are Seed, Students and Senior-Junior relationship.Ragging is strictly prohibited in this campus. For that a separate anti ragging committee is set up.The core of this university is the senior junior relationship. This is very beatiful part of this university. The seniors help the juniors to the utmost level in any field even they pay bills of their juniors and give them parties frequently.Juniors never argue with their seniors and a very healthy relationship is maintained between them.Living in one hostel you can take anything from the senior's room,if you have a problem in any subject, they even teach you for that. This will of senior junior relationship is seen in every student who is passed from this university. This university was formed in 1960.This was the only university which is the harbeinger of green revolution in India so it has a brand name. The students passed out from this university holds good position in various companies. And when the companies come for the placements, the same passed out students come as the recruiting officials of the company. There works the senior junior relationship. The students of pantnagar are favoured everywhere. The alumi of the university know the hard work of the students during their degree programme thus they favour them.for the job first. Many of my senior whom i.am familiar with have took placements of 8 to 9 lakhs per annum all because of this senior junior relationship.

Admission

After completing my intermediate in 2017 i was preparing for neet in a coaching institute.Side by side i filled the form of GBPUAT.As i belong from Uttarakhand and i have a state domicile so i was eligible to fill the form.I was not able to clear neet exam in 2018, but fortunately i cleared the universitiy's exam with a rank of 460.As it is the only state's agriculture university, so bsc.Ag.Was the prime course here, but i was offered bsc.Food tech.According to my rank.Students were called in various rank slots in the university itself (as it was offline counselling). The one securing good ranks got the choice of subjects. The other courses offered by the universitg are veterinary sciences, bsc.Food tech., Bsc.Fisheries.Bsc.Community science & also B.Tech.(Entry through JEE Mains).

Faculty

4.5

Talking about the faculties, all are very highly qualified professors who have completed theri Phd.in their respective fields. Most of them are renowed scientists in their respective fields and many have written famous books, many have discovered important plant physiologies. Therefore all are highly dedicated towards their fields.

One of my relative told me that this course have large scope, and bright future so my brother applied for this course and i did this course and now i realised that it is good but they do not provide placement we only rely on our own. I think college should conduct sessional exam on time and the external exam should be conducted in 6th month. Exam are not much difficult.. they are moderate level.

The course curriculum at MBPG college covers all the core science subjects with basic practicals but you need to have extra skills if you want to learn more. Also the curriculum is bit theoretical and but practical too.

I can name some companies with whom our college does have made tie-ups but since none has been placed as we will be the first one to be placed, it would be inappropriate to answer this question. Still, ISRO to DRDO are the organisations for which our course is Inclined.

I chose this course because I had a science background in 12 th and I am especially interested in Botany and zoology, which are also helpful for preparing for NEET and other competitive exam.the curriculum is useful for basic scientific understanding and future studies, but the college needs better lab facilities and more prectical instrument so students can gain proper hands on experience.the exam pattern is balanced, with some portions being easy and some difficult, while internal exam are generally moderate and depends on the students preparations

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite good and easy to understand. Among all the subjects, I like Chemistry the most, and topics related to transition elements are my strong area. This subject increased my interest in the course and helped me understand concepts more clearly. I chose this course because I want to make my career in the teaching field, and the syllabus provides a decent theoretical base for that. However, this course is not very helpful in terms of jobs, internships, or skill development, as there are limited job opportunities after completion. There is scope for improvement in teaching methods, such as more interactive and practical-based learning. Exams are conducted twice a year on a semester basis, every six months. The exam pattern is manageable, and the difficulty level of the papers is moderate.

As I have seen students who have studied from here have achieved many things in life some of them became professors here. Some are doing work abroad. According to me something there should be a change like having more practicals if you have taken subjects like IT, cs,bca or any other practical subjects book knowledge is also compulsory but by doing practicals we can learn more easily. Exams are normal for 1st year but as you are going higher difficulties will come.
