Remarks

It is the Best Medical College in Eastern India and within top 15 AIR according to India Times. Negative: No play ground. We need to travel for 5 minutes to reach the playground of adjacent University.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Yes. Medicine is one of the most toughest streams one will ever come across. MBBS is a 4. 5 years course with 1 year of Mandatory Internship rotated in various departments. The 4. 5 years is divided into 9 semesters which serve as our Internal assessment exams and we have a final exam at the end of each year. The second professional MBBS exam takes place after 1. 5 years (after 3, 4, 5 th semester). Our college admits 250 students per year. Classes are very good. Good Lecture Theatres, fully air-conditioned. Faculty is very good. Academics is very good. Teachers encourage us to do research in various specialities. Classes are usually from 8 am to 5 pm, but extra classes can extend till 11 pm during final year. We have state of the art laboratories for all the departments. We have 2 storied fully air conditioned well equipped library with all International and National Journals and all relevant books, which is open from 7 am to 10 pm. We get very good clinical exposure in our wards ans faculty teaches us bedside. We have 1 Common Room which us well equipped with Musical instruments, Carrom Board, Table Tennis. Total number of hostels are more than 10 for both boys and girls. Our best Departments are Preventive and Social Medicine, General Surgery, Plastic Reconstructive Surgery and Traumatology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics,

Placement Experience

5

Since it's a Medical College, so there is no question in placement. After 4. 5 years we have 1 year of Compulsory Rotatory Internship in which we rotate in all the departments and we work with a team or Unit. Internship in RGKMCH is the most hectic Internship among all the colleges of Kolkata, but they are the best when it comes to patient management. During Internship we used to get a stipend of around 21,000/- which increases each year.

College Events

4

Lobelia: Cultural Fest of RGKMCH Convocation Ceremony Reunion. All these are big events with huge fundings and all the celebrities come to motivate us. All the students participate in the programs. There is no Tech Fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Semester fees for a Government Medical College jn WB is ?6,250/-. So 9 semesters will cost around ?56,250. And for exam fees that we need to go the WBUHS. A challan of ?1k or ?2k. So, fees is very cheap.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since the fees are so less, nobody have to take loan. But still if the want to take loan or need any sort of assessment, they can always approach the own State Bank of India Branch of RG Kar Medical College.

Campus Life

4.5

Our Labs are very good and well equipped. We never faced any shortage of materials. For extra curricular activities we have different societies for rhe following: Sports, Drama, Dance, Music, Fashion Show, Advertising and Marketing, Anchoring. We participate in Inter-college competitions. Sports: Mainly Football and Cricket are being played. Carrom Board and Table Tennis is also being played. Again, winner of many Inter-college tournaments. Gender Ratio is almost 1:1. Funny part is that out batch had more girls than boys. Being doctor, we always respect everyone and treat and interact with them with dignity irrespective of caste, creed, religion, colour. Politics is not very strong. Both parties members are friends with benefits. Hostel: Usually in one room, 4 people are alloted

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel rooms when alloted are clean but we nake that unclean. But whenever you call them, they will correct it. 1 room usually is shared by 4 people. There are also many PGs. Rare is usually in the range of 4k-7k without food depending upo. The proximity from Department.

Alumni/Alumna

All the seniors are very helpful. They always help with Bone set, Lab notebooks, Books, Past year papers, Teaching, Showing clinical skills, Guiding for Research and so on and so forth. Alumni of RGKMCH is all over the world. There is not a single place where there is not a single RGKarian.

Admission

Getting into the stream of Medicine is simple. I was the first batch of 2013 to take the NEET-UG exam. There are two counselling process. One, All India Counselling and other State Counselling. I opted for the State Counselling and got RGKMCH as my college which was 2nd in my list, the first being Medical College, Kolkata. Then one needs to attend the Verification process and take admission on another day. There is no Interview or any other admission process.

Faculty

5

Most of the faculty is very good and there is never a shortage of faculty. All are very approachable. We never faced any problem being a part of 200 students. We all were valued equally and our doubts and problems were never unanswered. Regarding their qualification, all are Post Graduate in their respective Department and some are Graduates who usually work as Demonstrator/RMO/MO. The teaches usually encourage and guide us to do Research works, publish our work in journals.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite planned and great and has a lot of advantages in having a clinical and learning diagnostic approach to various diseases. One area where the curriculum can improve is by having more practical classes rather than theoretical classes. The exams are quite difficult but are quite planned to make you understand the clinician and the passing percentage is 50 percent.
