Its a pride to study in this college. Best college in kerala. It is nothing but the quality and age of the college that attracted me. It has many prominent personalities as its alumina. Evergreen actor prem nazir, youth icon kunjacko boban and politicians like oomen chandy, cf thomas were the students of my college. From this i understood that this college promotes not just studies but extra curricular activities also. In addition our college shows its presence in news as a remark of its academic excellence and achievements in sports and games like basketball, volleyball, cricket, football and so on. I was not wrong. Towards the course, as Bsc chemistry is a conventional course all i needed was experienced faculties and good laboratory facilities and sb college proved to be best amoung one of its kind in the city. Towards admission, i applied online in the college website and a list was published based on merit. The shortlisted candidates were interviewed by a group of two members, the head of the chemistry, and the class member. Its just for a formality. The course consists of three years of two semesters. Each semester contains two internal exams and a main semester exam. The internals are equally important as it gives you a share of mark towards the semester exam. To attend the semester exam we need 75 %attendence which is not so hard for an average student. So there is a lot of time to engage in any extra curricular activities like arts and sports. The course structure is designed such that a student passing this course will be an expert in chemistry and chemical experiments like gravimetric analysis, volumetric analysis,preparation of organic compounds etc. Apart from the theory exams there will be practical examinations conducted on even semesters, which will give you a direct laboratory experience. There will be two classes of one hour each weekly for lab during the 1st four semester and in the last year there will be lab hours conducted afternoon everyday except friday

Yes, the college provides opportunity to attend a number of campus placements including famous companies like L&T and MRF. as sb college is just a brand name that everybody can trust, these companies except skilled students from third year of the course. I was able to attend these placement drives. There will be two stages of selection, an aptitude test and a personal interview. Somebody with an average knowledge in the subject and basics can easily pass these tests and secure a descent job in india itself

Many prestigious events are conducted by the various departments of the college. One of the famous events in berchnova -a management fest conducted by the mba department apart from these fests conducted by individual departments, college union also conducts like programs like arts fest, union inauguration which will be grant events where we can expect filim stars and famous personalities as guests.

The is only a minimal fee. The first year costs you somewhere below ten thousand. And the progressive semesters only costs somewhere between two thousand and three thousand. In addition to this, they will charge you exam fee which falls in between five hundred to one thousand. Also union fee is collected each year, nearly 2000 for conducting programs like union day, arts day and so on. Comparing to other colleges, the fee is very low. And the government is taking the responsibility as this is an aided college.

There are many scholarships available to support students performing well and to those from poor financial condition. Scholarships from government like post metric scholarship is available to every student in the minority community. In addition scholarships like KPCR given by the college level is giving financial assistance to many students. Many scholarships are also available for hostelers sponsored by the alumni association of the college. Moreover scholarships in memory of any previous teachers is given to bright students each year. The staff association is also giving some scholarships to support poor students.

The college supports a wide range of extra curricular activities. Sports and game events like sports day, chavara trophy etc gives opportunity to many students to exhibit their talent in game like basket ball, volley ball, football, cricket, and all other athletic and non athletic games. For supporting women students of the college, there is an actively working women cell, which is one of its kind among colleges with only 40%girls. In addition arts competition in the college level and in the university level is considered very important and the college was able to secure 7 th rank in the university arts fest last year. The prestigious prem nazir trophy drama festival is another event which is introduced to show up acting talents of students. Other extra curiccular activities include value education, drama week, filim festival, seminar etc

The alumni network is very strong as they conduct a grand alumni meet every year to gather to do for their alma mater. Various scholarships are funded by the alumni association and they feel no difficulty in coming to events and seminars as a guest or a resourse person. The alumnis of the college spread everywhere in the world which is another advantage to demonstrate the beauty and wisdom of the college to a next level

Chemistry is the largest aided department in sb college with a total of 18 faculties. Which includes teaching and non teaching staffs. They all are well qualified in the subject, some with a doctorate and others with a post graduation and net qualified. But not all are intrested in giving quality education. some just concentrate on laboratory and some on some kind of research and so on. but genuinely speaking these faculties are just over qualified but not so friendly except a few.
