Remarks

My college will always be dear to me. I spent an unforgettable four years at MGIT and made some sweetest memories of my life. When it comes to academic assessment, I believe the College has to improve in many aspects particularly the mechanical engineering dept because the world is turning out to be too harsh for mechanical engineers so mechanical labs, faculty Curriculum have to be upgraded. If I were to rate my college, I would give a rating of 7/10.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The JUNTUH Curriculum for Mechanical Engineering as it seems to me is very outdated. It has nothing to do with industrial needs or requirements. It only prepares its students to pass a theory exam. After graduating one feels as if he is not all fit to work in a Mechanical company courtesy of the syllabus that was taught. The concepts and methods taught are not practiced in the industry. Unless one master's design courses like AutoCAD, Creo, SOLIDWORKS, etc., it is very hard to find a core job.

Placement Experience

3

The Majority of students who get placed are from CSE, IT, ECE, MCT. Mechanical students find very few opportunities in the core sector. However, it completely depends on one's own skillset. If you have good communication and analytical skills, you will surely get placed.

College Events

4.5

Nirvana is the main event of the College. It is a 3-day event. The technical fest is organized on the first day followed by a cultural day and DJ night is celebrated on the third day. Various sports competitions take place before Nirvana and winners are awarded on the nirvana day. Nirvana usually takes place in the month of March. Apart from this, technical fests are also organized individually by all the branches in September every year.Ignite is the technical fest of Mechanical Engineering.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Most of the high ranked JNTUH colleges have the same fee structure and MGIT is one of them. These colleges have to adhere to the JNTUH guidelines in this matter. The College recently planned to increase the fee to 1,20,000 per year but this attempt met with serious outrage from the students and the College had to listen to the students finally. Apart from the tuition fee, every student has to pay 2500 as an ancillary or miscellaneous fee. The transport fee is 17000 per year. There are various modes of fee payment such as RTGS, DD, bank transfer, through e-challan, etc. The College doesn't give provide any info on the breakdown of the fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

As I was a minority student and ranked below 10000 in EAMCET rankings, my education was fully sponsored by the Telangana govt. All other categories of students other than B-category and management under are also entitled to 35000/- per of scholarship from the Telangana govt. No, the College doesn't provide any scholarships separately.

Campus Life

3.5

MGIT campus is one of the most peaceful campuses of the city. It is located near the beautiful gandipet lake. The campus is sufficiently large and has a lot of green cover on and around it. College hostels for boys and girls are located very close to the College. The gender ratio is very satisfactory and even in branches like mechanical engineering, there is at least one girl for every four boys. The labs are very well equipped with modern infrastructure. MGIT has recently founded a ROBOTICS club to provide students with an insight in innovation in technology and automation. MUN is a forum for students which sharpens their orating skills and help them become global leaders of tomorrow. I was a part of this forum and I personally recommend everyone to be a part of it.

Alumni/Alumna

MGIT invites its notable alumni every year to felicitate them for their great achievements and also to motivate others to become like them. This fruitful alumni network helped with complete guidance in shortlisting Canadian universities while I was planning my Master's studies.

Admission

I took the TS EAMCET exam and scored 99/160 which fetched a state rank of 7490. The test takes place in late May every year and the results are usually out by the end of June. This is followed by the online choice filling where every candidate has to select one/multiple courses in one or more colleges as per his/her preference. This is preceded by the documents verification wherein all your academic credentials are checked and authenticated.

Faculty

3

Honestly speaking, apart from 2 or 3 faculty members, all others are not very knowledgable or experienced. Only two of them were professors or doctors and the rest were assistant professors. The faculty fall in the age group of 30-55. The lecture delivery is also not up to the mark. They do not guide students properly about the career paths and also about research publications which is of great importance for those who have study abroad plans. They are not dynamic as they as supposed to be. They do not encourage students to pursue research or take up any good projects outside academics. Neither do they provide any assistance in completing the major projects.
