Remarks
The college has a good name and receives awards from institutions such as times, but the education system is not good at all. Being a practical subject, we haven't been taken outside the classroom even once.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is not very well designed. And the college fails to provide us with proper education, the exams they conduct aren't serious. For documentary, we weren't taught anything and were left with everything to do on our own.
Placement Experience
The placement cell of our college is good only for BBA or Bcom students. Not one media company came for us media students. Companies like Wipro, omnifin, PWC, Decathlon etc came this year. The stipend was not more than 15k.
College Events
We have a college fest called Srijan, an annual fete called Shree, an annual program, sports day and many other departmental programmes. They are not big, and not many colleges participate except 2/3 common ones.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is pretty expensive. For example the mass communication students pay 11000 for a lab, in which no computer's work. Other departments are very expensive too, we have a sports sir who also teaches swimming.
Fees and Financial Aid
We do not have any such facilities, infact the fee we pay has to be paid in a day time. No prior warning is given. Thus, we either use loan or our parents pay for us. For anyone struggling to pay can avail education loans from banks.
Campus Life
We have a girl's College, but there are a lot of restrictions on the basis of appearance. The sports teacher is very good, but the participation is not good from the students side. During elections also, teachers choose the participants.
Alumni/Alumna
No, we have not been connected to any senior or alumni. There is no such effort from the college to hold an alumni function. No alumni or senior is helpful, as per my experience in our college. Therefore whatever I have done is through my own.
Admission
I applied and based on the marks i scored in my 12th standard, i got an admission. I wanted to do mass media, and shikshayatan was the only college in kolkata which was providing bachelor's in mass communication and not just journalism.
Faculty
The Head of department is very good, but other teachers do not come to take classes. One of our teacher has not taken even 5 classes the whole year. The HOD teaches good but is never on time, and doesn't follow a pattern.
