IIT Delhi Review

IIT Delhi provides best education & facilities at feasible fee,but we have a long way to go in research. We are far behind in research from MIT, UCLA & other foreign universities. Startup culture is promoted & students are encouraged to make jobs for others not to seek one & that's the best thing.

The course curriculum is well structured with focus on delicacies of the subject as well as exposure to practical component helpful in industries. Researches in relevant fields are also encouraged. Just a day or two,we have hectic schedule,other days we got ample amount of time for other activities. Every semester there are 2 minor & 1 major exam,with quizzes in between.

We have an ocean of Placement & Job opportunities here at IIT Delhi. TnP cell ensures Internships for every student. Companies from Microsoft to Google & GS to Samsung visits campus & offer PPOs, internships etc. Startup culture is also the best in the country.

Rendezvous is out cultural fest which is also North India's largest cultural fest with a footfall of 80000+ people. DJ nights,fun events,guest lectures & many other events. Tryst is our annual tech fest which comprises of hackathons, tech quizzes & many more events. Colleges from Delhi-NCR,other IITs,NITs, IIITs & various other institutions participate too.

The fee structure depends upon annual family income of student. The fee here is feasible & IIT provides world class education & facilities at feasible fee. For example, students with annual family income less than 1 lac have zero tuition fee.

There are scholarships funded by the institute & alumnis,like one of our 2002 alumni provides an scholarship of ?1 lac to a UG girl every year. Similarly there are other. Scholarships too like MCM in which students get ?1000/month & are exempted from tuition fee. SBI IIT Delhi provides loan at low interest rates(0% too),which students pay after completing their studies.

Gender ratio is improving here. Cultural societies, sports clubs are the best thing here,they provide ample opportunities to explore one's hobbies & interests. Student diversity is there,but there is no discrimination on any ground. Everyone has different political ideologies & everyone respects other's views with a minor clashes sometimes.

UGs are generally given shared rooms, whereas PG students are given separate single rooms. Rooms are in good condition. Some PG students are alloted rooms off-campus which creates many difficulties for them,but new hostels are under construction to ensure every student gets hostel.

We have alumni which includes legends like Raghuram Rajan,Vinod Khosla,Bansal brothers & many more. A strong alumni network is what makes IIT Delhi special. Alumni visit campus & interact with students & share their experiences & insights about life. Seniors are too good & helpful,we have academic mentors & a 3rd year UG student who mentors freshers.

I cleared JEE mains & advanced,on the basis of my jee advanced rank, I was getting Civil branch here. Considering various factors like metropolitan city,great location, strong alumni network & a core branch, I opted for Delhi Civil. In the seat allotment process, I got it in 2nd round.

Faculties are the best in the country. They hold PhDs from world class institutes & are experts in their field. Every professor has a different approach of teaching the subject. They also encourage students to do projects & researchers under them.
