Remarks
The environment is very friendly and supportive but it's very limited. It lacks in aspects of providing exposure and opportunities except moot Court competitions. It is not well equipped with regular summer schools and special courses in particular laws.
Course Curriculum Overview
The examination process is fairly relaxed however it's not very frequently updated and requires more of rote learning than of skillful answering and explaining of concept. It offers many subjects with clear relation, use and needs of for the professional understanding however there are many subjects which aren't included and could be introduced into the curriculum since they have come into use.
Placement Experience
Our placement and Internship committee is fairly new and hasn't been very much in good contacts with the people operating in the field and hence most of the opportunities are created by the students themselves.
College Events
1. Arguendo (National Trial Advocacy and Client counseling competition). 2. Surana and Surana Environment law moot Court competition. 3. A. S. Anand National Mediation competition. 4. National Legal Aid Forum. 5. National conferences and seminars on Child rights and women rights. 6. Drishyam (Cultural committee National fest).
Fee Structure And Facilities
It costs around Rs. 50000 for the odd semesters and Rs. 40000 for the even semesters which includes the tuition fee, the regular cost expenses of the department, the examination fee, cost of books and other things and excludes the registration fee and security money.
Fees and Financial Aid
Not a scholarship but some exemptions for E. W. S. category. Many students from middle class background do take education loans since the fee structure is heavy. There are other monetary benefits available which maybe regarded as perks for being in meritorious ranks of top 3 spots.
Campus Life
We organize Akhaada which is a national sports fest and many other fests mentioned above. The gender ratio is mostly evenly distributed and some classes have more girls than the boys. Students of various religions and ethnicities study here but mostly from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumnis have a circle on High courts as well as at many other places of work. Besides this, we tend to invite them for various academic and non academic events for adjudging and providing their opinions in particular fields of law.
Admission
The admission process is a combination of aggregate of both the 12th examination as well as entrance examination which is "Common Entrance Test" and consists of questions bearing score tally of 100 marks. On the basis of this, a merit list is thereby calculated and a total of 120 seats each are available for B. Com and B. A. students along with LL. B. making it a dual degree course. We have furthermore two other centers affiliated to the same degree under the flagship or under affiliation of Panjab University only.
Faculty
Most senior teachers which are professors and associate professors are very well versed with their subjects and have a good command to tackle any questions, queries and situations around the subjects but the junior faculty is provided any random subject as a challenge which they may not be aware of and hence it affects the quality of lectures as well as the classes.
