Remarks
Would recommend to all engineering applicants due to flexibility of courses. Since the college is a prestigious one, the students get many opportunities even not related to engineering. Industry exposure is high and placements are good.
Course Curriculum Overview
There is continuous evaluation in some courses while others are pretty lax. There are mid semester and end semester components. 20% of all examinations are open book by college policy. The course curriculum is up to date and relevant to future technologies. It is developed by taking feedback from the industry.
Placement Experience
BITS provides a 2-month summer internship after 2nd year and last semester of each student is an internship or thesis. No or very little stipend is provided in these internships. The campus also conducts an internship drive each year for other internships (stipend ranges from 10-50k). The placements are very good as the college is a reputed one.
College Events
The college is very active. There are four main fests. Atmos is the technical fest which happens around October. Then Verba maximus, which is the literary fest happens around January. Then the sports fest Arena is conducted. In the end Pearl the cultural fest is conducted in March. All fests are among the largest in the nation.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The semester fee is around 2. 5 lakh which is very high. Many students face problems in the fee structure. Even though the institute offers scholarships most students are not eligible to avail those.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college has Merit cun Need scholarships wherein students whose parents have an annual income below a certain amount and have good cgpa receive 40-80% scholarship. The campus also has a bank which handles all loans.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is 9:1. There are various parties going on each weekend. The student body is very diverse, originating from all over India. We are a very progressive campus. There is no discrimination and all issues are discussed openly. We even have a committee for LGBTQ community in campus.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms are amazing. Very spacious and you get one room per person from second year onwards. You get adequate furniture and the cleanliness exceeds expectations. The washrooms are shared and are cleaned thrice daily.
Alumni/Alumna
BITS is known for its vast alumni network. There are well functioning systems in place to connect students and alumni. The alumni are active as well and are ready to help. The seniors in college are very helpful as well and even though there is some ragging on campus, it is only done to propagate the campus culture which bits is known for.
Admission
I chose this course over any other course as it aligns with my life goals. I want to be a formula 1 aerodynamics engineer. The admission process was done through standardized test ( BITSAT). No interview component was present.
Faculty
All faculty members are PhD holders from IITs or better colleges. Most of them teach well and have a passion for education. All of them have several well funded projects under them and work closely with students.
