Akshay Jain's Review On Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College - [AKGEC], Ghaziabad

I will not recommend this college to those who want to study from UPTU Lucknow (now Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam University Lucknow) as this is one of the best college affiliated to UPTU. You can easily get good job opportunities with an average salary package. This college degree is the key to realizing my American dream, as it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity.

I gave UPSEE Exam in 2010 and scored 5,129 rank (Five thousnad,One hundred and twenty Nine rank) in general quota.I heard the name of this college from my friends and this college was used to be very popular among students when I was studying in class 12th so during the counselling process I opted for CS and ECE branches in this college along with same branches in JSS College Noida.Luckily I got CS branch in AKGEC through counselling process and that is how I reached this college.There are also other ways to reach this college that is on the basis of your 12th percentage and finally through Management quota.

Course of UPTU is very hectic,wide and theoretical too and also there are 5 subjects per semester.This is merely very difficult for college faculties as well as for students to complete the course in the given duration of semester timelines.Quality wise syllabus is not up-to the mark whereas you can easily found quantity work in UPTU curriculum.There is no choice in electives up-to 7th semester and you will get only 1 elective choice in 8th semester where there are only 4 subjects to pass out for.In the 7th semester Industrial training is also mandatory and in the 8th semester you also have to do a project work which carries 250 marks out of 1000 marks.

Generally Internship was provided to MCA students for their last semester where they have to work on a live project.Companies also pay stipend to students which ranges from 7000-13000 INR per month.College do take many steps in helping students for their internship as college has a very active training and placement cell which regularly contacts different MNC's and other companies too to engage final year MCA students for their internship.

From 2014 batch 589 students ( B-Tech +MCA) were placed in good MNC's.Genpact,L & T Integrated Engineering Services,Ericsson,TCS,IBM,Tech Mahindra are some of the companies used to visit our college for campus placements and also visited the college during my pass-out year 2014.From our batch one student was also placed in Google with an annual salary of INR 40 lakhs.Placement percentage of our college is near about 65% and the salary package offered to students varies in the range of 3 lpa to 4.9 lpa.In the year 2014 TCS offered 3.25 lpa to CSE,ECE,IT and ME students and offered 3.46 lpa to MCA students while R-Systems offered 2.87 lpa to CSE and IT students.College is continuously making efforts to drive reputed MNCs to visit the college but as we know that there areas of improvement in terms of placement opportunities.

Total fees for 1st year is around 1,30,400 INR and is around 1,09,700 INR from 2nd year onwards which includes University Charges,Tuition fees,Registration Charges,Personality Development and Placement assistance charges,Medical Charges,Text Book charges etc.Fee structure of private engineering colleges in NCR affiliated to UPTU are on a higher side and private colleges charge much more as compared to Govt Engineering colleges affiliated to the same university.

Directly our college do not provide any full time loan/scholarship but provides a recommendation letter by which Indian Bank association provides rebate in education loan interest for the students.Scholarships are also provided to the students in terms of appreciation cheques for those who are merit holders in the University rankings and cheque amount may range from 5000 INR to 20,000 INR depending on the ranking and scores obtained by the students.

Gender ratio of our college is near about 60 girls per 100 boys and one can observe good diversity in our college.Most of the Students are from Delhi,UP (East),UP (West),Bihar,Punjab,Uttarakhand and Haryana states.College has the state of the Art Centres of Excellence in collaboration with eminent multinational companies to provide industry relevant training and project exposure in the following fields:-- Industrial Robotics Training Centre with Kuka Robotics.- Automation Technology Centre with Bosch Rexroth.- LabVIEWAcademy with National Instruments.- PLM Centre with Siemens.- Integrated Automation Centre with AIA.- Pneumatic Knowledge Centre with Janatics.Research and Industrial Consultancy Centre (RICC) has been established in the college to promote and extend industrial consultancy & R&D services as per their needs. RICC also provide a platform to exposure of recent trends in engineering to the students.

College has hostels having accommodation for 1500 boys and girls.There are 6 campus hostels in the college premises spread over three complexes namely, the Girls Hostel Complex, the Junior Boys Hostel Complex and the Senior Boys Hostel Complex. The three

Alumni of our college are very helpful and can be of great help when you are looking for some Job opportunities.Alumni of AKGEC spread all over the world are zealously serving human society as engineers, technologists, managers and entrepreneurs. College used to organised Alumni Meet every year in the month of December and free transportation and accommodation facilities are provided to alumni who took part in alumni meet every year.College has alumni network portal where an alumni can register and can connect with the students of the AKGEC.

UPTU exams are hectic one and one has to go through a lot of theory books to clear the exams.Passing marks are 33 out of 100 and it is very difficult to pass UPTU exams due to careless marking done by our professors during the external university exams.Pa

Faculty of our college are hard working and talented too with most of them holding the M-Tech and PHD Degrees.Faculty of our CSE department possess sound technical and practical knowledge and has good command over most of the programming languages.Dr.B.M
