Life in RIE

Our College has Army NCC. For both boys and girls which not only helps us to keep disciplined but has also opened up a new sector of opportunities here. Every hostel can issue sport items for their children's usage from the Institute's dorm. I feel very lucky to be enrolled here.

RIEs are called the IITs for the Education sector. There are two semester exams in one year and four internal examinatios in every year. The subjects are widely divided for Theories, Practicals, Skill Enhancing Courses ( which gives us real life practical usage of our theories), EPC( Educational Pedagogical Courses) etc. Summer Internships in other institutes on the initiative by students themselves in encouraged from here. And gracious LOR is given on the basis of merit. The academic pressure here is very meticulously balanced with seminars, debates, cocurricular activities and fun activities like treasure hunts and quizzes on a periodic basis. Although classes are tightly scheduled here.

Because the Institute is majorly training us to be in the education sector itself, after the four years of our course completion, we undergo CTET or Central Teacher's Entrance Test whose scores are then taken as references for our campus placements by various Javahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVs) and invited Private Schools.

One thing that is not upto the mark here is the Institute's Cultural/Technical fests. We have various Cultural events and competitions inside the college and they're very exclusive for the students themselves. Mainstream Prestigious guests from the State are called as chief guests for few of our events. Exhibitions, Sports Meets and Verious Hostel Cultural nights and Fresher's event is attended by them.

Fees here is very feasible considering this is a government funded institute. Around 15,000 per semester which excludes the hostel and mess fees. Notice for fee submission come to the students with prior timings.

The college's fees is very minimal and hence its rendered unnecessary to further provide scholarships. And even if they do exist there are none that I know of although deserving students are encouraged by giving out merit certificates in the annual days.

Sports Meets are held annually and are a big occasion for the college. Students with high competitive nature participate and are awarded with trophies and medals from invited chief guests of various fields. Sports Competitions are also held on various levels like InterHouse and Inter hostel etc. There's a thriving social life in the campus itself with big and carefully maintained basketball courts, indoor badminton courts, a seminar hall, a conference room, two auditoriums etc. Infrastructure is great basically. Every festival is celebrated here of every religion and it is seen that none of the components of the college go missing from these. From freshers to alumnis to last year seniors. Also, there are very strict anti-ragging and anti-bullying policies here.

Hostel facility is available inside the college campus with 3 hostels designated for girls and one boys hostel. Rooms in the Hostel are shared by 3 girls. And there are common washrooms that are cleaned twice a day. Sanitation of the rooms is ofcourse the boarder's own responsibility. Every hostel has 4 water coolers. And Gardens and stages for Cultural events. The Hostel Warden stays in the hostel too so that none of us are left unattended. Food in the hostel mess is amazing and we're given our meals 4 times a day : breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Everything is included in the minimal cost of hostel fees. Electricity, water and every charge is included in the above mentioned hostel fees.

Events like College Freshers, Department Freshers, Hostel Freshers and Quota freshers help the intermixing of sensors and juniors. Seniors here are very helpful and encouraging. They share amazing anecdotes about Personal life, Academic lifestyle and everything in general. Our hostel seniors are like our sisters. We enjoy so much in festivals that sometimes it's a bummer that we need to go back to home in holidays.

Major prestigious institutes in India are offering Science undergraduate courses for 3 years and professional courses like an engineering degree or medical degree for four years. This course is one of a kind because it's an integrated course that usually takes 5 years. But this will save one year for us while pursuing a career in pure science. The BSc. here too is honours course and not a general science degree. Admission in RIE happens through its CEE or Common Entrance Examination whose dates come up around April. After which taking into consideration the marks from CEE and your subject marks from Boards, a merit list is prepared for the tight number of seats from every state.

Like every Central Educational Institute, faculty here too is top-notch. Permanent ones are highly qualified with their Doctorates and Post-Docs done from various premier institutes of the world and India. Very fine interviewing and selection for Assistant professors or temporary staff members is done to select only the very understanding and talented ones.
