SVNIT Surat

The college is good. Student to faculty ratio is very high. More faculties should be hired. THe culture in college is very much about academics. The extra curricular activities are undermined by many professors.

Course structure was not particularly focused on research but it had many points emphasising the importance of research. First year the labs were hectic but as time passed it becamed chilled out. There were mid semester exams and end semester exams.

The placement and job opprtunitiesare enough in my college as concerned with me and my department. Our college provides research internship with the stipend of 5000 rupees per month in summer break. Overall experience in college internship is good.

There are various technical as welll as cultural events celebrated in SVNIT. Sparsh is the annual techno-cultural festival of the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology. It usually takes place in the second or third week of February, and is one of the largest of its kind in the Western Region. This five-day festival consists of mega-attractions, informal events, technical events, managerial events and numerous other competitions. The festivities of the day are followed by "Sparsh Nights - the Inaugural Night, Singing Night, Dancing Night, EDM Night and Celebrity Night.

Fee structure is feasible. The tuition fees is about 63000 rupees per semester. There are 8 semsters in Btech course so, 500000 rupees. The fee is waived according to the income of students family. If the income is less than 1 lakh rupees the fees is waived totally.

The fee is waived according to the annual income of students family. If the income is less than 1 lakh rupees the fees is waived totally. If the annual family income is between 100000 to 500000 rupees 2/3rd fees is waived.

Gender ratio is not good. There are much more boys than girls in SVNIT. There are many student chapters for extracurricular activities in SVNIT, surat. The institute has student-organised festivals like MindBend, Sparsh, Autumnfest, and MMNCT.Most of the institute’s athletic and sports facilities are located in and around the Student Activity Center (SAC).

Hostels are very nice in SVNIT. There are separate hostel for each year of the course. For first and second year it is sharing and for third and final year it's single room. The mess facility is also there but it is not so good.

SVNIT Alumni Association is the formal alumni body of SVNIT and has chapters spread across the world. Seniors are thge thing which is very good in SVNIT. They help you in almost everything. From the fierst day of your college.

I gave Joint Entrance Exam Mains during my 12th class year. The combined marking of Joint Entrance Exam Mains and my board percentage were used to produce a rankings. According to those rankings the allocation took place in the CAP rounds.

Most of the faculties are well qualified for teaching their particular claseses. They teach the subject properly but some faculties do not seem interested towards teaching the particular subject maybe teaching at all.
