Remarks

It is one of the oldest engineering college of India established in 1964 and has gained immense reputation. It is among top 5 colleges of India and has made a mark in QS rankings. It can be the best 4 years spent in the lifetime for some. One of the most unique feature is the zero attendance policy which lets the students discover their own passion. It is away from the cities and thus a place that is quite calm. It teaches the students the way of living and lessons for a lifetime. The only negative about this place is the gradually increasing fees.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The exam covers the entire syllabus for classes 11th and 12th and this matches with the curriculum across all engineering entrance exams. Rather BITSAT is a notch higher as compared to the majority of the exams in the sense that it requires very high speed with great accuracy to clear it. It contains 150 question in 180 minutes with 10 bonus questions if you answer all the 150 question. All in all the preparation is similar to Jee Advance and it leaves the student with a hectic day.

Placement Experience

5

The placements of the institute are very great. Almost all the big firms visit the campus (Google, Amazon, Microsoft) and thus placing the institute in the tier 1 engineering strata. The college provides upto 2 internships. In case you opt out you have to do a thesis as a a compensation. The first intern is a non-paid summer intern and the second one is paid and 6 months long. The stipend can vary anywhere from 7,000 to 1,20,000 per month. This may or may not include other benefits.

College Events

5

The college hosts 3 fest every year. First is BOSM(BITS open sport meet) which is the sport fest and it has a footfall of upto 1000 students from other colleges of India. Second is the cultural fest Oasis and it caters upto 5000 students and Big chief guests and artists from all around the world. It is India's 2nd biggest cultural fest. The third is the technical one Apogee. Students from other engineering colleges visit the campus to compete and display some cutting edge innovation and world class technology.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible as compared to other colleges and considering the return on investment being high, it covers it up. The per semester tuition fees is 1.67 lakhs which grows at a rate of 8-10% per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

Merit scholarship: offered to the students with very high CGPA and consistent performers. Merit cum need scholarship: offered to the students whose family income is less than 10 lakhs and is bifurcated into scholarship stratas on the basis of CGPA. Student Aid fund: It is funded by the Alumni for the students in desperate need.

Campus Life

5

The gender ratio is like almost every other engineering college.BITS has the most unique focus on its culture and overall development. One can find all sorts of clubs from dance club to technical teams like Team Anant (building a cubesat). The 2nd biggest fest of India, Oasis is handled completely by students from end to end and is similar for the other fest. It covers all the sport that are played in India and has dedicated space and fields for all.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostels are compulsory for the students except the ones native to the village. The hostels are welly built and cater to almost every need of the hostelites. It has a canteen where you can buy cooked food till 2:00 am and there's a vendiman to cater to the hunger after that. For first year students, it is compulsory room sharing(double), in second year, it is lottery based to get a single/double room. From third year onwards it is a norm to give everyone a single room.

Alumni/Alumna

The institute is said to have the best alumni network in India. With thousands of bitsians, one can find a bitsian in almost every big mnc, to founding the world famous startups(swiggy). An alumni can be found in every geographical region including Antartica.

Admission

It has a separate exam called BITSAT. Upon clearing the exam you fill the desired branch preference and if there exists a seat which is vacant and has not been filled by the candidates who performed better that you, then you are allotted the seat. I had cleared JEE Mains as well as Advanced. I was eligible for NITs as well as several IITs including old and the new ones. I gave a preference to the branch and as I did not get the desired branch in old IITs and BITS is more renowned as compared to new IITs and NITs, thus the decision.

Faculty

4

The majority of the college faculties are decent. They know their subject and are clear enough during communication. Some faculties are very enthusiastic and go out of the way to make a regular class session interesting and meaningful.

Placement Experience:

Placement are decent in my point of view as college manage to provide campus placement to every eligible students as company ask for your Overrall grade point of the student and apply their standard as 6.5 ogpa or without any backlog and take exam of aptitude and it is based on company policy they take group discussion and then personal interview and if it is software company then coding rounds also. Students in7th semester are ready for placement. In current scenario 6 companies have visited the campus and around 40-45 offers has been given to students. Here each company come with only one package and different job roles some company came with 5.5 lpa and some with 5 lpa and some with 7 lpa so maximum till now from college is 7 lpa and average till now of placed students is 5.5 lpa. 60 percent of students get placed in past years stastics. My plan is to go for higher education ie mtech from good institution.
