Remarks
The college is average. The best thing you will see in the college is the infrastructure. The teaching faculty is not well qualified and have no art of teaching, neither are they helpful. The labs are outdated. There is a central library too with a lot of good stuff.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is very creative but one needs to be passionate about his branch. I was quite passionate about technology, that is why i choose electronics and communication engineering branch. The entrance exam is objective type. It consists of 3 portions, physics, chemistry and mathematics with 50 questions from each subject.
Placement Experience
There is a training and placement cell in the college. But hardly 20% of the students get college placements. This is because, not many companies are interested by the overall college performance. My college doesn't provide internships.
College Events
We don't get to celebrate much. There are random technical, cultural and management festivals in the college. We celebrate the graduation day, after a batch finishes their degrees. Apart from that, many reputed personalities come for guest lectures.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible. But never expect a compensation, whatever financial problems you are facing. The annual tution fee is INR 37800, annual hostel fee is INR 27000, Annual examination fee is 4000, plus we have to deposit a one time departmental fee of INR 10000 and registration fee of 1000 after every semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college doesn't offer any scholarship or loan of its own. You can apply for merit cum means scholarship for professional and technical courses from central government only if your family income is less than INR 250000 and if you have scored good marks in the previous exam you passed.
Campus Life
I think the boys outnumber the girls in the college in the ratio 4:3(not approximate). You won't see much of student parties. The is no discrimination on the basis of race, religion and sexual orientation.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is the worst experience in the college. You have to share the room with 2 to 3 students. There are no basic facilities like clean drinking water, clean batheooms, 24*7 electricity. I suggest to opt for PG in the main city of srinagar. There you will find good environment both for study and recreational purposes.
Alumni/Alumna
The college alumni especially senior students are the most helpful people in the college. They are nice and polite. They give you idea about the ups and downs you are about to face in the college. They give you an idea about the exams you have to appear in the course.
Admission
I appeared in J&K common entrance test(CET) 2014 and came in the selection list and after counseling i got admission in the college of my preference, that is SSM college OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY.
Faculty
The college faculty is quite average. If there are 10 teachers in a department, rarely 2 to 3 teachers are good in the subjects the teach. The HOD has the highest qualification and the HOD of my branch is the best teacher you will ever see.
