Remarks
It is good wrt social development and sports and cultural activities. It lags behind in the area of solid research work. But it has the tag of a NIT so it is better than the private colleges in that sense.
Course Curriculum Overview
The current course structure in my opinion is quite outdated. There is very little emphasis on research based studying. The students are taught just enough to pass the exams and most of them don't learn anything. The exams and labs are not that frequent to leave one feeling hectic.
Placement Experience
If you belong to CSE or IT branches of our college, then you don't need to worry about placements and job opportunities. There are plenty of them for these branches. Rest of the branches suffer in this area comparatively. The packages offered are not that lucrative and internship opportunities are few and far between.
College Events
More or less every event and festivals are celebrated in our campus. Entrepreneurship Summit, Aavartan (tech fest), Samar (sports FEST) and Eclectika(Cultural fest) are some of the major attractions. Then there are various other activities of different clubs and committees. The fests are usually the biggest in central India. Students from in and around the central part of India participate in these.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is very reasonable because this is a government institute. The students belonging to SC/ST are exempted from tutuion fees all together. The OBC and general students have an annual tutuion fees of 1.35 lakhs. Further there are relaxation criterias on the basis of family incomes.
Fees and Financial Aid
I don't have a great deal of information about the scholarship and loan facilities. But there are a few scholarships offered by the Chhattisgarh Government to the economically backward students so that they can pay their tution and hostel fees.
Campus Life
Extra curricular and sports activities are held very frequently. Various technical workshops are also conducted by the technical committees of different branches. The hostel facilities are not adequate and are allotted in the basis of GPA. There is no discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnicity, race , religion etc.
Alumni/Alumna
College seniors are very helpful in the initial stages of 1st year. They help out with books, stationaries and exam preparation. Alumni network of the institute is also very good. Alumni of the institute who are at very top levels of their respective fields are invited at regular intervals to give lectures and guidance to the young aspirants.
Admission
I made up my mind that I would pursue Engineering in class 11.I got Chemical Engineering branch on the basis of my JEE rank. I was not a big fan of chemical engineering before. I wanted Mechanical Engineering but couldn't becoz of my low rank.
Faculty
In my honest opinion, most of the faculties in my college are not up to the standards. They fail to create interest among the students in order to motivate them to go through a subject on a deeper level.
