My college

The colleges has few cons and pros which is why I would say this college is like any other college in India. One good thing about SRM is the infrastructure and friends you make here. One negative thing is college life is very hectic which makes it very difficult for the students.

The course curriculum is very HECTIC.From morning 8 to evening 5 the college hours take place leaving very little time to hang out with friends after college. SRM has very good library where you can find huge number of research and books but the teachers are quite not helpful, all the work has to be done by the students alone. The exams takes place in every month which is very tiring because the class notes are not sufficient to pass the exam and have to sit in library and make notes the entire semester.

The placements of SRM are good compared to other colleges of same level. On the pre-final year you can apply for internships which are both stipend and non-stipend. All the leading companies approach for internship and the stipend vary according to the job profile. On an average the stipend varies from 2. 5000 to 40000. But one need to have a good score of 8.5 or above GPA to get internship opportunities. In final year you are eligible for placements and you can get a decent salary of 6,00,000 if you are good in coding else mass recruiting places almost all the students of SRM.

Our national level Aarush and Milan are very famous festivals that happen every year with great zeal. Participants from other colleges from Chennai and nearby come and perform and showcase their talents. Lead singer and actor come and visit our campus. Apart from technical and cultural fest other clubs and department like management, dental and medical holds individuals festivals and they all are great to enjoy.

Each year the fee is increased around 45,000 so it is becoming expensive each year while the facilities are improved very less for the fees increased. I took admission in 2016 my college fees was 2,15,000 for software engineering excluding hostel fee which is another 1,00,000 for non-ac.In the year 2019 the fees was increased to 3,50,000 for software engineering.

If you are under the merit rank list of SRMJEE you can get scholarships which vary each year and is given to rank holders upto 5000. There is another good scholarship that SRM provides if a student in any year is under top 10 rankers of their department a scholarship amount is provided which is purely based on the GPA which varies for each student. SRM doesn't provide any loan facilities.

The gender ratio is around 10:1. The SRM does not promote birthday parties inside hostel and charge a fine of 10000 if you are caught. There are many clubs and domains you can be a part of. A lot of workshops and activities are provided by clubs and different student bodies.The diversity of student is good, in Tamil Nadu a lot of north Indian students are present which provides good exposure to ethicinity. For sports there are few basketball court and football court. There is no ragging and the campus has peaceful environment with a lot of security guards roaming around.

The hostel provided by SRM is very costly. For girls hostel the fees is 1,50,000 without ac. The hostel rooms are good but the quality of the building is very poor. If an earthquake comes SRM girls hostel will be the first to collapse. For the same room if ac is attached it will cost 2,50,000 which is very costly. The mess fees is included. There are pgs and flats available nearby which are cheaper and costs around 1,00,000 including AC.

The seniors are helpful and the alumni network is very prominent. Alumni talks take place in every month. Our seniors always gave good opinion about the department and placements and they always were very chill and happy helpers.

SRM is among top colleges of India so it was decided if I get good rank in SRMJEE which is a self entrance test of SRM I would take admission in it. Since SRM has great infrastructure, technology and other parameters to give a great exposure to anyone hence I dediced to take SRM as most of the other colleges lack providing such amenities. To be elaborate admission process is simple and like other colleges if your rank is under the cutoff rank you can choose your department accordingly. The rank is on the basis of SRMJEE which is very similar to JEE MAINS.

Most of the teachers here are Tamilians so diversity among teachers is very less.The teachers have knowledge but practical knowledge is very weak and hence they cannot explain the concepts very well. The teachers are very particular about class and will always teach in the class.
