Remarks
Poornima College is a renowned engineering college of Jaipur. With good learning experience and cultural activities, it offers you all round development as a whole. Yet there are some demerits too. Firstly the selection criteria for admission of students to the institution has degraded over the years. Also the mode of education though knowledgeable yet gets boring and monotonous at times. There are certain weak points of the college too such as it lacks social exposure for students and they aren't can't act freely in student council body to make some challenging decisions.
Course Curriculum Overview
Regular key learning is imparted to the students about subject. There is key focus on the subject related matters and industrial exposure is delivered by special lectures, video lectures, guest lectures and industrial visits. Every year the students are taken for an industrial visit to the respective industry related to their domain to get the idea of current status of the industrial sector. Every semester three exams are conducted, two of which are internal and one is the university exams. These exams are mandatory and hold a certain weightage in the student marksheet.
Placement Experience
There are internships held every year for the industrial exposure of students. There are extra points for doing a good internship. The college claims of 100% placement record every year with each and every student placed in one form of the firm or the other. The many companies that organise recruitment drives are Byjus, Infosys, Capgemini, Adani power, Zaro, TCS, etc. These placements are usually held for the final year students during their VII semester. Special classes are arranged for them to groom their aptitude and personal skills. Technical sessions are also organised to test their technical skills. The drives are usually divided into three different levels. The first is the aptitude round, second is the coding round or the GD round and finally the shortlisted students are called for their technical and personal interviews. Upon clearing all the rounds the students are selected for jobs.
College Events
The college hosts different fests all round the year. First there is AADHAR a tech fest specially for the first year students. Other than that there is AAROHAN a intercollegiate event comprising of technical, sports and cultural sector. Other than that there are small events at college level such as open mic and debates.
Fee Structure And Facilities
There are no additional charges to secure admission in our college and there is a transparent fee-breakdown that allows individual to rely on real statistics. Both online and offline modes of fee payment are available. The fee structure is divided on a semester basis. It comprises of the regular tuition fee, development fees, NBA charges, stationary fees and uniform fees the latter of which is a one time fee.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers scholarships to the meritorious students based on their academic performance in their past degree achieved. Also I have availed the scholarship of TFWS (Tuition Fee Waiver Seat) by applying for the REAP counselling in Rajasthan. To apply for a regular college scholarship the student needs to be the top scorer of their stream with an outstanding record in all the sectors including cultural activities and sports.
Campus Life
The ratio of boys to girls varies according to the stream they opt for. Like the renowned streams such as computers and electronics have around 40% girls while in some other courses such as mechanical their are hardly any two or three girls, but this number is rising now. The various facilities available for students include fresher's and farewells, college fest, technical, sports and cultural events. Our college also hosts debate competitions and specials events to empower women. The various events are organised by the different committees of college formed by the student union. Laboratories and classrooms are well furnished and equipped with the necessary gadgets. Anti-ragging is strictly followed in the campus.
Hostel Facilities
No I haven't opted for college hostel facility. But their are spacious rooms available in single, double and triple seating. There are separate hostels for both boys and girls with strict rules and regulations. There are enough seats available to house around 800 or more students at a time in one hostel. If there are no vacant seats, the locality around the college is well developed with numerous other options available including flats, PGs and hostels for the students at nominal charges under sharing. The average rates for outdoor housing range from 2000 to 3000 on individual basis.
Alumni/Alumna
The recent batch of seniors have turned out to be really helpful both within and outside the outskirts of college. They acknowledge the fact of being an alumni and offer different modes of helps to college in generous ways. Many college clubs are also regularly guided and monitored by their supreme expertise and share the industry standards. But there is still scope for a better alumni network based on the college level.
Admission
Engineering is a never ending zone with exponential growth. This sector mainly aims at solving the daily life problems and providing a leisurely life to individuals. Following the same principle, I aimed to join engineering. I was offered a seat in this college with a scholarship via the REAP counselling for engineering colleges. The admission usually takes place around August every year.
Faculty
Six lectures are held per day for a specific course. These lectures are tended to by the recognised faculty who are expertise 's in their respective domains. Our faculties are both young and aged but are highly qualified. They do lack a proper formal communication in English medium but deliver good content related to subjects. Many of the teachers have completed their Post graduation and some are following in the race.
