Remarks

Overall performance wise college is good and one should absolutely take admission in it without thinking twice if one having opportunity for having admission in VGEC. Green campus, spacious plus great infrastructure, dynamic faculties and committees, Learning, Placements and Social life are the main focus of this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

GTU's course is industry driven and includes various aspects of industrial requirement from fresher point of view. There is compulsory internship in final year and also industrial visit to cement manufacturing plant, dams, sewage treatment plant, etc to be organised by college staff and faculties members. It is helpful to students to learn onsite challenges facing by the engineer. It's course curriculum is decided by Gujarat Technological University (GTU), which comprises of 8 semester. Each semester having, 1 mid semester by college (30 marks total), 1 internal submission and viva by college (20 marks total), 1 external viva and submission (30 marks total) and 1 external exam by GTU (70 marks total). So in each subject you will be scored from 150 marks in Grading system in subjects and Converting that into SPI (Semester Performance Index) out of 10.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement in Civil Engineering Department is 0 from last 2 years. Even though 2-3 companies coming in campus but for non-tech profile job like marketing in which student are not interested. After completion of this civil engineering, students generally preparing for government exams, some taking admissions in ME or MTech and some doing jobs in private companies. Placement in IT, CS, EC, Chemical and IC department are on an average with average package of 2.1 lacs. Every year faculties and institution take innovative steps to groom the students and place these students in various organisation by workshops, industrial expert lecture and one to one counselling.

College Events

4

From Last 3 years, GTU Central techfest is organizing in this college which includes technical, nontechnical and special events. Almost 15,000 students takes participation in this event from all over state. Apart from this, many workshops, startup events, expert lectures series, motivation lecture, cultural festival in inter department, drawing competition, debate competition, alumni meet, quiz, etc are organized time to time for students to enhance their extra curricular skills.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Nominal. As due to government college, Average boys fee per year is 5000 including university, exam and college fees. Girls fee per year for the same is around 2500. At the time of admission 1500 amount has to be paid to confirm your admission by merit list. There is fully transparency in the fee structure. Library fee is 50 annually. The mode of payment is only through SBI ONLINE portal (Website of SBI) by debit, credit, netbanking and UPI payment.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are many scholarship options available like MYSY, International student stipend by government, etc but I haven’t availed for any scholarship during my course.

Campus Life

4

Gender ratio is generally 1 female and 4 Male in civil department whereas it’s almost 1:1 in IT and Computer department. There are many activities running in E block for various departments alongwith sports like TT and badminton. All kind of people with different religion are coming and without any discrimination. Economic status of students may differ from high profile to village or rural area profile. International students are coming from Afghanistan, Africa, Nepal, etc with different races. All department stands with each other in crisis regarding to studies or any activity. GTU central techfest is the main attraction here annually as almost 15,000 students from all over Gujarat coming here to take participation in this huge event comprising of many exiting and learning activities.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

No. As my friends lived in college hostels, i have some idea of college hostels facilities. The are in a sharing of 3 and 4 per room with proper beds, cupboard and table. Each room having balcony. Washrooms are in sharing of almost 6-7 rooms. Washrooms are not in a good condition and remains dirty. Also water cooler for drinking water not working all time. Rooms are allotted to required students on the basis of their merit during admission only. No idea for girls hostel and PG's are available near colleges with almost 5000-7000 rent per month for 1bhk and 10000 per month for sharing of 2-3 students in 2bhk. Food cost and electricity bill excluded.

Alumni/Alumna

As soon as college alumni are just 6-7 years old so network is not that much huge but yea it’s increasing year by year and students getting benefit by alumni’s participation and interest in upbringing of their juniors for their bright future and working as their guiding hand.

Admission

I want to pursue my career in civil engineering as from childhood I was fascinated by high rise buildings and infrastructures around the world and want to be the part of that process. This college's civil department is good and comes next after LD college in government colleges in terms of excellence, academics and faculty. In 2015, I took admission in this college through ACPC rank in our state, which concluded from performance in state board and JEE mains in 60:40 ratio respectively.

Faculty

3.5

Daily allotment of 8 lectures including laboratory hours, workshop hours, teaching hours, etc. Almost 30-35 lectures taken in each subject with video lectures also. Faculty team is highly educated and with great teaching skills. All are supportive to students in terms of education or in career development aspect. They have clear idea of subjects taught by them and they teaching us from their handful important notes from various reference books and up to international standards. Generally syllabus is not completed by faculties on time before university exams and students have to do it by self. They only taught important chapters sometimes in particular subjects before examination. Assignments given by faculty are from reference books and previously asked question papers so that student get to know the pattern of exams and gain confidence in performing exam. Some faculty taught from local books like Mahajan Publication and Atul piblication and some from high standard reference books and presentation.

Placements are good. Students are eligilble for campus placements from 7th semester. The highest package is 2100000 and the lowest is 200000. The median package is 3.5 to 4.5 lakhs per year. From last two years there was 100% placements but usually its 90%. I plan to pursue pg after this degree in either mtech or mba.
