Review of BS-MS Dual degree at IITM

IIT Madras is at present the India's number one engineering College in the country. The atmosphere and the culture at IIT Madras is very very good in my opinion it is the best of which I saw till now.

BS/MS Dual degree program at IIT Madras is according to my opinion good program if you choose to go to to research facilities and or to pursue higher studies in biotechnology. Also you can come to IIT Madras and then wish for a branch change compete among the top paypal in all branches and be among top view in your branch at the end of first semester to hopefully change your branch. After your first semester you are supposed to continue in the same branch. Curriculum wise 1st semester and 2nd semester have common courses mainly science subjects, from second year onwards this particular department courses will start there are a multitude of courses along various disciplinessome of them are compulsory to get the degree while some of them are free to be chosen by us. On the outside this is a good program offered by IITM.

The placement and job opportunities here at IITM are indeed excellent there is a dedicated team of students who will co-ordinate with the companies coming for placements. Every year since the last few years the no. of Student placements have been increasing. Yes our College has internship team which function similar to replacement am and connect with companies to give internships to people. People from other institutes can also do research internships under various professor at various departments also. Wilder research internships are not paid, the the companies which come to IITM to get internships of unpaid stipends anywhere from 10k per month to 1 l per month.

IIT Madras has two big fests a technical fest and cultural fest both of them are among the top 10 fests conducted by institutes throughout India. The technical fest of IIT Madras is Shaastra, while the cultural fest of IIT Madras is Sarang. Both of these first are aimed to motivate and encourage student participation in their respective realms. We also have a wide range of sports activities throughout the year. there is a dedicated organisation called centre for innovation which is focused on doing technical projects by students of IITM. Also there are inter hostel events for technical events cultural events and sports events as well.

The institute tuition fee for undergraduates is 1.08 lacs per semester or 2.10 lacs per year. Apart from this the hostel fee and the mess fee will amount to around 26 to 29 k per semester. there are concessions for students whose parents annual income is less than 1 lakh or between 1 lakh to 5 lacs per annum. There is also concession system based on community. The tuition fee was height continuously over the past 2-3 years. It is starting to become expensive for students to study here but it is not too expensive as the private Colleges elsewhere in India

There are multiple scholarship facilities that are offered by the institute most of them are for the the low income community or for the backward classes. Most of them are given by previous alumni of the institute while some of them come from companies and from Government of India. there are detailed procedures for getting the scholarship and every scholarship application will be thoroughly checked and verified before approving them.

The sports facilities inside the institute are are very good compared to the standard ones some of them also meet international standards. The research labs are also very well equipped many of them containing millions worth of equipment. Gender ratio is very different here. girls to boys ratio is 1 : 8. There are all types of people hair from different communities different ethnicities different regions of the country some of them even foreign nationals.

Jahan shall saiyaara quite old built about 40 years ago most of them at least and a few of them which have been constructed 45 years ago coming to hostel infrastructure every hostel student is entitled to a few things like an individual chair and table a cot a mirror. In first year of joining students are given double sharing rooms violin second year people may get single room or get triple sharing room. From the third year onwards every student it will get a single room if they want to. All the basic facilities in the hostels will be maintained bi a third party organisation which are contracted by IIT Madras.

maintaining seniors and senior connections are very important here at IIT Madras for the growth of any student it is practically not possible for a student to succeed here without seniors help both in academic and non academic. alumina also come into contact with students at times but mostly are interactions with the seniors are more in all the first and organisations which are run by students there is a strong team bonding between the seniors and juniors of the team which not only allows people to bond during the particular work but non academic bonding also will form and many of them will become best friends also.

We have to clear JEE Mains and Advanced also. Post results, We are to choose a list of options to which we want to enter into. Depending on the rank in JEE Advanced, the given options are evaluated, and depending on various factors like rank, community, etc will be choosen and a master list will be released in which we can see which College we are alloted. There are seven rounds of this seat allotment, where we can choose to freeze seat at anytime. It depends on options you choose to get into different programs in different Colleges.

The faculty in our College especially the department are very good and are very very search for kist most of their work bi towards their research interest and h professor takes about one or two courses per semester only the research domains of the professor in the institute is also broad. We can choose to work under many projects provided subject to their approval. there is a compulsory dual degree project which has to be done by the student under any one of the professors in the department. The faculty on the outside are motivated to teach the students and to make sure there interest in biotechnology in general is ignited.
