Remarks
The best thing about Svnit is that it is in the centre of surat city so everything is easily accessible like malls and restaurants and you get the best food outside campus. Due to continuous corruption and scandals college is dropping in rankings.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is pretty outdated. I studied mechanical engineering and the books we were referring were decade old and contained information about old and outdated technologies which you can't apply in real life practically.
Placement Experience
The college does have a training and placement cell that helps you to get placed in final year. Placements were pretty good 5 years ago but the packages and companies have sort of stagnated.college does not provide internship but does assist you.
College Events
We have sparsh the cultural fest which is one of the biggest in western India we have colleges from Gujarat and Maharashtra participating. But currently in last couple of years we are struggling to find sponsorships and also students are less interested.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Given that it's a government college it's pretty feasible and also aid is provided, but annually they are hiking the fees so it won't be feasible in future. But students from unprivileged background study for almost no fees and only have bore daily expenses.
Fees and Financial Aid
Underprivileged and students of reserved category do get student aid. Every nit has a sbi branch in the campus, so you easily get educational loans that too at a very nominal rate of interest. I haven't availed any loan.
Campus Life
The labs are old and have outdated and insufficient infrastructure. Cultural societies are very active and happening, you'll make amazing senior and junior friends here. The campus is not active politically. During college elections you see groups being formed by people of respective states
Hostel Facilities
Hostels for final and pre final year are just newly made and have amazing views average rental is around 50k annually. All the hostels have basic amenities like mess, wifi and night canteen and indoor sports.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes if you find the right seniors they are really helpful. Alumni network is not very well connected and well documented so we can't leverage our alumni that are at really influential positions of top companies.
Admission
So you get admission in this college on the basis of all india rank that is formed by weightage of your marks of JEE mains and your respective state boards percentage/percentile of 12th standard inclusive of all subjects.
Faculty
The faculty here are qualified atleast on paper most of them are PhDs from nits or iits. But the problem is that even though they are knowledgeable they are not the best one's who can impart their knowledge. Given that it's an government institution there's very less motivation among the faculty.
