Learning at GITS

There is always room for more improvement in everything. Our college so far has provided excellent facilities and hopefully it continues to do so. We could rearrange our college timings to include development of more practical knowledge and reduce the burden of theory. For now I think GITS is doing very well for itself and I hope our college continues to walk on this path of progress.

The Curriculum has certainly broadened so as to develop the student's perspective by including subjects like MEFA, Soft Skills and BEFCAP however I feel that the syllabus itself has not yet caught up with the present, which again says more about the RTU heads than this college. Industrial visits have shown students more detailed aspects of being an engineer and developing their concepts and ideas.

Since currently I am in 2nd Year I have yet not taken an active internship. Though our college is keen on providing students with internship possibilities via Internshaala. Companies like Ultratech, Gurveshwar Consultants, Ravi Infra etc. have provided with job opportunities(esp. Civil students).

Our college celebrates its freshers and annual with great gusto and enthusiasm, though present scenario has not made it possible to do so this year. Technical fests are often conducted where we see a wide variety of students from various schools, colleges etc. with with their projects, models and ideas to create a better tomorow. Cultural, Literary and Social clubs have been made to groom students and give them a chance to contribute for the welfare of society.

While the college fee is somewhat acceptable to pay the other charges, eg. Revaluation fee or The Back exam fee (which again is on basis of RTU) is too much. No additional was asked for securing my seat during admission and the college remains transparent in their transactions.

Scholarship opportunities have been provided by the college to various students who have scored very high though since I was not eligible for any I do not have much information about it.

My college life is as normal as any others since I'm not a hostler I do not have epic dorm parties. Though my batch has more male students I see that there is equality in all aspects as both boys and girls are given equal opportunities to excel. More students are accepted from nearby regions providing a bit of diversity. No discrimination has ever been observed by me in my time at this college. Political and Socio-Economic differences may exist in terms of students life or idealogy but it has NEVER affected the institution's learning atmosphere (or at all!)

Thankfully my seniors have been very kind,fun and encouraging. They have provided me with study materials for examination, often told me how to approach a particular faculty and guided me to do well overall and in return all they ask is just a little bit of sincere respect, which I believe is no too much to ask for...they have earned it.

The admission process was relatively simple and choosing B.Tech Civil Branch was a decision I had made back in school. I had visited the City Center rather than the campus itself for my admission and there the staff was very encouraging and polite. The reason for opting this college was that it provided better facilities and has a better reputation than other colleges of this city.

The faculty is very knowledgeable and knows what they are doing. They take the initiative to do something different and new and try to find more methods to engage student's mind and develop their analytical and personal skills. If doubts are not cleared then and there then faculty makes it a point to provide the student with a satisfactory answer as soon as possible. Though there is still room for improvement, which I am sure will happen soon. All the faculties have Masters in their fields and some also are Ph.D holders so we are surrounded by experienced teachers.
