Remarks
Oriental knows its work and does it with full dedication. The college management working tirelessly to help the students make the most of this course.
Course Curriculum Overview
Ours is a stream which demands practical knowledge. The stress is always upon gaining hands-on experience rather than having an ocean of bookish knowledge. The currilum of engineering currently in place resonates with the exact notion mentioned above. The course is divided into 4 years or 8 semesters of learning which has both theory and practical lecturing structure followed up with relevant practical sessions. The university examinations are conducted strictly according to the curriculum being followed and covers most of the concepts taught in class. Apart from the academics, the university also expects its students to take up various trainings, certifications and internships during the course of degree, with certain marks associated with it. These elements of the curriculum helps nurture the minds of yound students into industry ready professionals.
Placement Experience
Oriental Group has been a leader in terms of placements. And when my turn came, this fact came to be my reality. Around 50-60 companies have already visited my college for campus drives with around 500-600 students already placed at various MNCs. Oriental takes internships and trainings very seriously. During the course of this degree, we had several visits being organized to various technical organizations like CRISP, IMD Bhopal, Data Center Bhopal etc. We also had training sessions being conducted by RedHat Academy in Linux. There were around 2 internships being offered in college itself in each year from first year to third.
College Events
Oriental is always the name taken in the city when it comes to technical fests and cultural events. "TechAcme", one of the biggest techno-cultural fests of central India is a 3-day annual affair organized by Oriental every year. Apart from this, Oriental celebrated various occasions like teachers day, Engineers day etc with full frolic.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is not the same every year. There are minor changes made every year with additions and reductions to the structure. My fee structure: Tuition Fee : 78000 per year Bus Fee: 12000 (compulsary to avail) The fees is not that expensive if we compare it with other private colleges across the country.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes. I have availed an Education Loan from Union Bank of India at the standard national interest rates approved by the government. The eligibility criteria for availing the loan was minimal and only required the students to having passed their 12th std with an aggregate of 60 percent. The bank also run some surveys into the income of my family and when they were satisfied that I could pay them back, they approved it.
Campus Life
The gender ratio at Oriental is pretty normal. There are around 25 girls in my class out of a total of 60 students. Our college takes care of the all round development of its students, owing to which, they organize various interactive and miscelleneous parties like freshers and farewell eves and General Interaction (GI) session with seniors. The canteen facilities are also good.
Hostel Facilities
No. I am a local of Bhopal and I live with my parents here. I still have taken a tour of the hostel and related facilities provided by Oriental and I must say that it is indeed a home away from home for most of the students who leave their hometimes for further studies.
Alumni/Alumna
Our college has an active alumni network. The college takes initiative to organize interactive sessions where notable and successful alumni of the college impart their experiences and knowledge to the students. I have had many one to one interactions with my super seniors which had helped me a lot in bagging 3 job offers.
Admission
I took the Joint Entrance Exam of 2016 and got a rank which was a little over 1 lakh. I had no hopes of bagging a national Institute and wanted to get into a good government aided or private college which could give me a good environment to learn and grow. I started looking out for colleges and decided that if I'm not getting an IIT or NIT, then the next best choice would be a private college in Bhopal itself( my hometown). This decision was purely made on factors like financial condition of my family and the quality of engineering colleges in Bhopal. Now in Bhopal, when we talk about engineering colleges, they're like 20-30 in number but only a handful of them promise the kind of quality we look for. Oriental Group of Institutes in one of them. It a pioneer institute of Central India. Be it placement records, international exposure, environment or faculties, OIST Bhopal has got the best to offer. So when I got a call from Oriental that they're offering me a seat in Computer Science (which was the only branch I wanted), I took it without thinking twice. The admission process was of the usual kind. We went through multiple booths after enterring the campus and in about an hour I was enrolled in the institute.
Faculty
Each semester comes with a proper lecture plan according to the time alloted by the university. On an average, each semester spans around 4 months of teaching and 1 and a half months of testing. In these 4 months, we have around 90-100 classroom lectures (practical sessions included). The average age in engineering colleges is 20. (Freshmen year- 18 years and Final year-22 years). The faculties in engineering colleges have minimum qualification of Masters in Technology with relevant certifications ib the subjects they take. My lecturers were graduated from renowned and acclaimed national institutes with many of them from IITs.
