Remarks
Overall this university is very much good for pursuing B.sc. Agriculture. This university has a great reputation in bringing advancements in the farming society. The management is not that much good but it is enough to become a good personality.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is for 4years unlike any other B.sc. programmes. This is a technical course though it has name of bachelors. The course cirriculum is good. There are credit systems. 2semesters are there in each year. Each course has one mid term, one final, one viva and practical exams. Also they provide a computer training certificate, for NSS certificate also there is oppurtunity. At the last year i.e. in 4th year there is no course work instead there are two things one is exposure to the industries like tea industry, jutemills and others. Also an entrepreneurship training programme is there. Also exposure to village lifestyle and their people are done for 6 months. Campus placements are also there through the placement cell. Fertlizer companies like IIFCO, BAYER also tries to get some students.
Placement Experience
Placement cell is active although very few students opt for doing a job after B.sc. But if they inquire in the placement cell eagerly then it is sure for them to get a job. Those who want to get a job among them the percentage is around 90%. Mainly fertlizer companies are called for the placements which take place through interviews and after a good look on their CVs. BAYER, IIFCO, CRIBHCO, TATA these are some companies.
College Events
There is a Student committee with General secretary who gives the funding for the programmes. The university has a year round celebrations like saraswati puja, rakhi organized by 1st year students B.sc., Freshers, teachers day by the 2nd year students B.sc., social, picnic, farewell organized by 3rd year B.sc. and 4th year students are given no time for organizing as they must prepare for competitive exams and jobs. Out of all these Social is the biggest of all it continues for three days and there are different famous hindi and bengali bands who are hired, also Dj night happens. Two bands of the the university performs and all the students cherish these memories forever. Also ganapati festival is organized by M.sc. students and Viswakarma puja by the B.tech and M.tech students.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Feasible fee. The mode of payment for admission is draft mainly. If there is a critical cases in the family then the students comittee helps a lot in those cases. At the time of admission the fee is only high but trust me it is very less. Every semester means every month one have to pay around 3500 which includes everything of the administrative level and does not include hostel fee.
Fees and Financial Aid
The scholarship offered by university itself is very less and only given to meritious students 175 per month. But one can avail state scholarships if they want like swami vivekananda and minority scholarships if they fulfill the criterias.
Campus Life
Campus life is awesome. Girls generally is less in number then boys. People from many states join for this course in the university. Many kerela, tamil nadu, karnataka, bihar, orissa students are there. Some international students are also there. Labs are not that much great but sufficient. Hostels are a hub for students to do parties and all. Every student is free around the campus, nobody questions anyone unless its illegal or obnoxious. Economic status of many students are not that much good. Sports like different formats of cricket competition happens. Volleyball tournaments, table tennis tournament. Also badminton, carrom, chess is there. Every new innovations are appreciated in the campus. Debates, quizes and many more.
Hostel Facilities
Yes i opted for hostel. The hostel rooms and all about the hostel are mantained the students itself, the mess is controlled by a student group named mess comittee. Average monthly money to be paid for hostel is 2000 only and nothing else is needed. Food is served thrice a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Student can obviously go out for snacks in the evening. In 1st year 4 students in one room, in 2nd and 3rd year, 3students per room and in 4th year 2students per room. But if there are less seats then they can add some students in one room.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are very helpful. They prepare the students for different competitive exams. Seniors take mock test and gives notes for the competitive exams and also the course test. Almuni network is also great. There are many in the line of R&D and state administrative level also some are in foreign, in each and every state of India, there are some alumnis. Some are in IITs some in IISc.
Admission
Online counselling happens after the declaration of board results. I opted for this course as I think this will be future of the world, when technology advancement will become saturated, food will be the next one to get focused. Also india is a enormously populated country with 70% people's income relying on agriculture and to feed the population one needs advancement in agriculture. This institution is best known for its B.sc. programme thats why i went to have a B.sc. degree there.
Faculty
Every teacher in the course have done Ph. D. also one of our teacher is asia's famous pathologist. There are many foreign researches going under different teachers some are funded by the World Bank, some from NABARD. The professors are very helpful and freindly with the students. All the lectures are important for research works and also for WBCS exams. Average age of teachers are around 55. They have a great depth in the subjects
