Remarks
The university has a great campus besides its academic difficulties. It encourages students to be close to nature and meditate to keep our mind on track. Although, I would say the management is quite poor, it has this tendency to always postpone all important matters and delay fulfilling our requests.
Course Curriculum Overview
Honestly speaking, we don't have the infrastructure needed to yield this course in our university. We don't have enough faculty to teach, no proper equipment for learning, no proper exposure. The curriculum we have also doesn't sound so groomed to provide industry specific knowledge to us. We've visited places though. We've visited other campuses and places where we got to learn how things actually work in animation.
Placement Experience
Since we are the first batch of animation in the university and haven't completed our course yet, we don't really have any idea about placements. About internships though, our university is tied up with a studio in Australia (studio56),they have offered internships to us and also a work and study offer.
College Events
Oh about the events, there's a lot. But most importantly we have this huge fest every year called ORION. It has been named one of the top 10 fests in Odisha. Its organized and handled mostly by students, we've got sponsors and celebrities, it's bomb. Another event our university hosts is the SSU MUN which is the Sri Sri University Model United Nations. It's been recognized internationally now.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The tuition fee for BFA Animation is 60000 per semester and since I'm a hostelite, it's an extra 40000 for food and accommodation. We are charged an additional 7750 at the start of every odd semester for sports fee, medical, GST, etc. The college is quite transparent on the fee breakdown.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college did offer scholarship opportunities to students, we had gotten a mail about it. I don't know about the scholarship much. But yeah, I did get an education loan for my studies.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is surprisingly equal, infact I feel like we have a lot of female students than male as we have more hostels for women than men. The extra curricular life in this university is way better than its academic life, atleast when it comes to the course that I am in. And about discipline, it's pretty tight actually, more than it should be. Lot of rules, and some are obsolete but still exist. We have a lot of workshops and seminars that keep happening in our campus. And sports is very much encouraged for both guys and girls. I myself am part of the women's volleyball team. In conclusion, it's a ragging free, drug free, violence free campus.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are very helpful honestly. I couldn't have figured my way around in my first year if it wasn't for them. About the alumni, I haven't met anyone yet so.
Admission
It was 2 years back so I don't remember much of how I got through the admission process. I think I applied online and paid provisional fee and the date for admission was all sent through mail. Since my course had just started that year in the university, there was no entrance test or interview that I had to take to get in. I reached the university on the given date, got my admission done, paid the fees and boom I was in.
Faculty
We have 2 faculties to teach us 6 subjects. So basically, we need more. One teacher is probably in his late 30s(qualified in 3d animation and vfx) and the other is probably in his late 20s(3d modeling and texturing). They're both good to teachers and ace at what they do. They're both from the industry and have had professional industrial experience.
