Remarks

For me the most positive thing about the college was that there was no restrictions of any kind in the hostel or in the college campus. You're free to do whatever you want. For me the most negative thing about the college was limited amount of seats in the hostel for UIET students, due to which most of the students could not get the fulfilling essence of hostels and the campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

If you're looking for research the courses that UIET provides is literally not for you. The course that UIET conducts in the passage of 4 years is just for basic knowledge of the course. The curriculum overall was just satisfactory. In the course of four years and 8 semesters there were 8 sem exams, 16 sessional exams and various quizzes for internal marking. Every semester we had minimum of 4 practicals which was just writing i.e. copying stuffs from previous practicals. Ninty percent in the practicals you are on your own if you really want to learn anything, 10 percent is what the college will provide.

Placement Experience

3

Placement overall is good but if you talk particularly about mechanical it's bad. Students of CS/IT has huge placements in mass recruiters in companies like Deloitte/ZS/Infosys. Maximum from these branches get placed. Minimum placement is of Mechanical and Biotech. No core company of Mechanical visit in the college. Few from mechanical get placed in IT firms. There are internship programs. We have a fine lab of DIC funded by MhourD for interns.

College Events

4.5

The technical events are Baja, Efficycle, Efficars and few more. These events are held at moderate level. There are many cultural events which are organised by the clubs of the college. Clubs get involved with Student by their own events at regular intervals of two-thouree weeks. Goonj is the biggest annual cultural fest of UIET.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is quite feasible. It is around Rs 75k for a year. The hotels are efficient at cheapest of the rates. The fees are paid semesterwise. In odd semesters you have to pay around 30k and in the even semesters you pay around 45k. The examination fees are paid 2-3 weeks before every semester examination, It's around 1600 every semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

I never had come across such thing during my college days. I do not think the college has any scholarship or loan facility. There is a fee waiver criteria for economically weaker section candidates. EWS candidate only pays hostel fees and examination fees.

Campus Life

3

Panjab University has a very rich background of sports which involves both the girls and the boys in equal ratios. The university has two big ground which has a cricket field, football field, hockey court, tennis courts, badminton courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, track and field, baseball field, archery field, boxing ring, gymnasium hall etc. There are no restrictions regarding timing in the hostel or the campus. There is no ragging in the campus or the hostel. The only time that is exciting and scary both at the same time is election times which are held in September month every year for which different student parties approach freshers from the very first day the student visit inside the campus for verification purpose after admission.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are 8 hostel for boys in which 7 are inside North campus and the 8th one is in South campus of PU near UIET. There are 10 hostel for girls in which 7 are inside North campus and rest are in South campus. Among these 18 hostels, 5 of the boys and 3 of the girls hostels has very old infrastructure and the rest has new modern architecture. The girls hostel has one extra facility of washing machines. Rest of the facilities are same for both. Each hostel has its own parking, playing grounds, mess, canteen, barber shop, stationary with good price which the students can afford easily. 40% of the students of every branch get hostels based on their merit/rank during admission and few who perform good in academics during semester get hostels. And the rest has to look for PGs and other hostel outside the campus. The nearest hostel outside the campus is Maharana Pratap which charge you around 3k as room rent including water and electricity. The PGs are not cheap in sectors but nearest villages like Khuda Lahora has good affordable rents.

Alumni/Alumna

The most beautiful thing about the college is your senior who are very genuine towards any of your concern. The seniors will help you the most, they will tell you everything honesty about the college, its culture, placement opportunities and everything. Alumnis often visit the campus with their projects in higher studies or from their jobs.

Admission

I gave engineering entrance exam back in 2015 and managed to get rank under seventy thousand. According to my rank the best I could get was UIET, a deemed department of Panjab University. I applied for 5 colleges under PU which took students who qualified JEE Mains examination thourough JOSHA counseling. There were 4 rounds of counseling based on quota. First round was done based on caste and income. Second round was done for other categories students like defence, SGC, J&K migrants, FF and few more. Third and fourth round was for the upgradation of branch and college. I got mechanical in the 2nd round which continued till 4th round. Verification of documents was done at the end of 2nd and 4th counseling.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty was quite average if you leave a few. The teachers were more concerned about the absentees instead of focusing on those present in the class. Most of them will scare students of their short attendance thouroughout semester. They will make you copy all the old stuffs copied in their notes they keep with themselves. If you leave a few and look from others to response to your doubts, you won't get one.

Placements of this college is better than many tier 2 NITs . Students are eligible for placement in 8th semester. If we talk about the top companies visiting PEC, these are Apple, Google, Microsoft, American Express, McKinsey, JP Morgan etc.
