Shri Shikshayatam College is one of the best colleges in the city of Kolkata. It is by far the best girls' college affiliated to the University of Calcutta. A perfect balance of discipline and liberty is maintained in the institution. The strict yet knowledgeable professors guide us appropriately, which enables each individual to establish her own personality. There is adequate security management here. The cafeteria has perfectly fresh food facilities. The laboratories are safe and well equipped. The washrooms are always clean, with wending machines installed in each of the floors. SSC has the biggest library amongst all the colleges of the university, and it goes without saying that the facilities are provided keeping in mind the best interests of the students. Sports day, annual day, cultural festival, etc are celebrated. Thus, I'd like to conclude by saying that anyone would be lucky to be a part of this 60-year-old institution of education and much more.

No entrance examination was needed to be taken separately the marks of the +2 board examinations were taken into consideration. An average of the grand total (best of 5 subjects) and mathematics was taken. Then accordingly the names of eligible students were published on the college's official website. The form fill up was also to be done online. I had got 92% in my ISC examinations, 2013, scoring 94% marks in economics. In ICSE examinations, 2011, I had scored 93% on total. I decided to take up economics as my honors subject mainly for the love I have towards the subject. Also, there is a lot of scope in this field and the career opportunities are vast. The Economics department of the college has a celebrated faculty, and the college also has university toppers. To sum it up, if one decides to pursue economics for higher studies, Shri Shikshayatan College serves a wonderful option.

The college offers a detailed analysis and proper guidance with respect to the subject our professors are always making an effort to improve the quality of education that is imparted to us. They make us students often work in small groups, in order to instill in us the importance of team work. Our work includes research on some particular sub-topic from the various papers of the subject. They also arrange for seminars and lectures by eminent economists from time to time.

There is a placement cell in our college in which the students have to enroll themselves on order to seize the opportunities the college provides for the students' placements. There are a large number of companies that offer internships for the graduates as well as graduating students in the college. Most of these companies offer good stipends to the interns. Seldom there are companies that offer with full-paid jobs to graduates.

A number of big companies like TCS, Mahindra, Indigo airlines, etc have offered internships with good stipends. Other than that, companies like onesense.com have offered full time jobs.Many students have been working with these companies for the past few years now, and most of them seem to have achieved job satisfaction.

The main cultural festival celebrated in our college is SRIJAN, Which is held during January end or February every year. It is a major attraction for students every other college in the city. The total expenditure budget of the festival is somewhat near 1 million rupees. It is grand festival with over 60 colleges participating from all over the country. Over 50 events are held in the festival, including all the on-stage, off-stage and sports events. We also have a celebrity guest performer for the festival right at the end. Apart from Srijan, we also have annual day function held during December every year, along with the annual sports day.

Shri shikshayatan college is a private institution so, the fees charged is obviously more expensive than that of the government aided institutions under calcutta university. But it is feasible for students belonging to the middle class families. The fees is payable one-time at the beginning of the session every year.

As far my knowledge goes no such scholarship facility is provided by the college the loan facilities, however, maybe available but I am personally unaware of anyone who has availed either of these facilities.

Shri Shikshayatan College is a girls' college. Students are treated with respect by both teachers and non-teaching staff, indifferent of their caste, creed or religious beliefs. There are many clubs and societies. Debate club, Nature club, etc are very active. Also, bodies like NSS and LTS work actively in the college. Sports day, annual day, etc are celebrated. Our annual cultural festival, SRIJAN, is a major attraction amongst other college students. Apart from all this, seminars and workshops are organized from time to time inside the campus, which provides a knowledgeable experience and valuable insight for the students. All the activities or events are managed and coordinated by the college students' union council, who are the representatives elected apolitically from amongst the contesting candidates.

The college does not have any hostel or PG facility for the student the students have to make separate accommodation arrangements for themselves. The college is located in one of the busiest joints of the city, and so, there adequate accommodation facilities available for the students.

Shri Shikshayatan College opposes ragging in the institution therefore, the question of the juniors having any kind of abusive relationship with the seniors is absolutely out of question. Now, to be more specific, I personally had a wonderful set of seniors. They were not only friendly, but also very helpful. Mow that I am in the final year of college and in the senior-most class of students, I try and maintain the same friendly equation with my juniors that I had with my seniors when I was a freshman. As far as the alumni network is concerned, there is a separate community maintained by the students who've graduated from the college.

Apart from the annual semester held by the University every year, the college holds a mid-term examination and a selection examination. The mid-term exam is held sometime near October or November, while the selection exams are held two months prior the final university semester exam. As our professors provide us with quality guidance, we aren't too stressed out during the exam times. But yes, as our syllabus is humungous, it obviously gets hectic for us at times.

Shri Shikshayatan College is an institution of sheer excellence the professors are not only highly qualified, but they are also experienced the professors of my course, i.e., Economics Honors are M.Phil in the subject. The college has one of the most celebrated faculty of the university all our professors work in close connection to improve the quality of education and also impart knowledge beyond the text books.
