Rahul Lugun's Review On Scottish Church College, Kolkata

I can say that Scottish Church College is a good college when compared with other colleges which is under Calcutta university. The teacher really focuses on you and they will try there best to keeping pushing you upward to score good grades.

Bachelors degree doesn't give any focus on research as it is mostly focuses on a academic studies and the course structure is well structured which gives any student with no prior knowledge computer science can catch up. Also the exams are done periodically which at times becomes hetic but mostly i leave the day pretty chilled.

This year(2021) compaines like amazon, Indigo, TCS, etc have come for placement and the fresher slalary is around 10,000 to 15,000 which is not an impressive salary but from a fresher point of view it is good.

There are various programmes thourough out the year like recently there was a seminar regarding World peace and it was an impressive seminar, there are also seminars related to chouristians and there is 3 big events that are Chouristmas programme where various Chouristian colleges are invited and the other two are Caledonia and union freshers.

Most courses are government aided except few courses like Bachelor's of Computer science, Bachelor's of business Administration, Bachelor's of Commerce, Bachelor's of Microbiology, Bachelor's of Botany, Bachelor's of Zoology.

College offers studentship which is a scholarship provided by the college itself where students who come from a low-income background can apply for where the college bears some percentage of the course fee you have opted for.

There is a good gender ratio in the class, college hostels are also good as there are 3 boys hostels and 1 girls hostel which is close to the college walking distance of about 5~10 minutes depending on how fast you walk, students in the college have a diverse environment as there are students from diffrent states mainly Northeast, Jharkhand etc.

I stay in a chouristian hostel which is not the part of the college, it is an independent hostel which is run by the Jesuits, fee structure is moderately cheap also there are discounts on hostel fee for students coming from a low-income family but the person have to speak with the warden regarding it. Infrastructure is fine and thd hostel where i stay has the best hostel ambience among all hostels when compared with hostels of the my college.

Seniors are friendly and good as they will help you if you approach them for help regarding studies, personal and to some extend financially but not all seniors are good as some just want to take advantage of the juniors in some way or the other but these type of seniors are less when compared with the students with who are helpful.

I wanted to study bachelor's in computer science whisch is near my my home place as i live in North Bengal. Since it is one of the reputed college which is affiliated to Calcutta University with good academic history that's why i chose this college.

Most of them have done Master's in Computer Science and the teachers are really helpful to the students who seeks their help on a particular topic/s and will try there best to make you understand that topic.
