Graduation and Masters from Aligarh Muslim University

There can't be a better university than Aligarh Muslim University. Whatever I am today, I owe it to my Alma mater. I went there as a boy with no idea how my life is going to be, but come back as a student knowing something about how to shape my life for a better future.

The course structure was very good, with little focus on the research part. Research is a gradual process that takes time. In grad and post-grad, you are so busy with finding a job for yourself that you cannot focus properly on research. And yes, the labs and exams were very frequent. 3 labs a week and 2 sessionals a semester with an end sem exam.

The placement scenario is good. Would not say that it is very good and all but never saw a single serious student getting wasted without a job. Some departments like engineering and computer science offer a great placement and companies like tata and work are very regular to our campus.

So our university is very rich culturally. We always celebrated our annual hall function and an overall university function annually. All the functions involved a lot of students ranging from a few hundred to sometimes few thousand.

The fee structure is very nominal, even a student without any sound background can afford it. The annual fees for the general courses are around 10 thousand while for professional courses, it is ranging from 20 thousand to 40 thousand and the monthly mess fee is around 1200.

There are many scholarships provided by our university. Having a vast alumni network allows the university to arrange various scholarships from the alumni and provide them to students with a need or deserving students. Some scholarships are meant for students with poor economic backgrounds only and some are meant for students doing great in their academia.

Our university provides a lot of space for extracurricular activities including sports, debates, drama clubs, etc. The gender ratio is quite good and when it comes to diversity, religion, and gender tolerance, the university provides a lot of space for all this.

The hostel infrastructure was beyond my expectations. I was really amazed when I saw a hostel building 100 years old and still shining like it was built yesterday. The rooms were big and spacious providing separate cupboards and table chairs to each student residing in the room.

So, my university happens to have the largest alumni network and I am so proud of it. The senior students and alumni are always very helpful. Whether you need suggestions or any other help, they are always there for you. I couldn't have felt better if I was not from AMU.

When I got admitted to the university, the procedure then was quite simple. It was totally based on the merit list and I was very lucky to make it to the merit list. I chose geology in my graduation over physics and maths because there was a boom in geology at that time. There was a lot of job in that field then.

The faculties were excellent. They teach in a manner that if you attend the lectures seriously, you would be able to crack all the entrance and competitive exams without any difficulties. Some faculties were so good that I didn't need to pay extra attention to the course they taught. Their lectures only were enough.
