Asutosh, like many other colleges, falls under the Calcutta University. In light of the recent modifications of University norms, Asutosh now has shifted from its 1+1+1 pattern to the centralised CBCS rule. This is much better and systematic semester system. This allows students to maintain their school life format of two exams in one calendar year and gather CGPA(s) as a reward.

Asutosh offers both Bachelor and Masters courses. However, as I'm in the second year of the former, I am not well informed about the placement criterion. However, frequent internships and seminars are conducted where students get a hands on learning experience. Master and higher studies become an easy option as you progress with your degree. The job opportunities, then follow.

Asutosh, like all other big institutions has a vibrant culture of college fests and events. We have our yearly 3-day blockbuster fest called Udaan; closely followed by the winter carnival which involves various inter college and intra college events. Apart from this, the asutosh memorial hall lies witness to Freshers and Farewell programs of all the departments here.

In comparison to the facilities and reputation, I find the fee structure to be quite reasonable. The sum varies from 4k to 6k depending on which stream you've chosen. The science subjects, involving practical and laboratory studies tend to eek out a bit more than the theoretical humanities section. All in all, I'll confirm the fee structure to be feasible.

As far as I can recollect, there's a monetary aid for all girls doing their bachelor's course, provided by the Government. Apart from that, the college guides its students to all the scholarship facilities around.

People are highly enthusiastic and excited, when it comes to extra curricular activities in Asutosh. There's the yearly ASL - Asutosh Soccer League where the best footballing department is declared. Similarly, Badminton and cricket tournaments occur. Indoor ventures like Chess are also encouraged. All students spending their time on these activities are provided with attendance for the respective period from the department, hence encouraging all-round development.

Asutosh college posseses a very strong alumni network. Infact, the seniors are extremely helpful; they guided me thourough the entire admission process on my first day. Apart from this, you'll always find them and the alumni's on all the special occasions of the college. Standing with the institution, until the very end.

My 12th marks got me into the merit list. There were a lot of others eligible for the same. The hierarchy was decided according to PCB marks weightage. We were asked to keep a close watch to the official college website during the preparatory period. Shortly, I noticed that I was called upon for the first councilling session. Eventually, I was selected and appointed there with a roll number and fees book. This is how my journey began.

Asutosh being a NAAC approved A grade college doesn't compensate on its a academical prowess. Hence, you needn't worry about the faculty involved. They are extremely helpful and methodical in their teaching. Almost all of them have completed their phD degrees and possess immense about of technical knowledge about their respective subjects.
