Remarks

The college has a lot of potential to grow in terms of education. Sad part is that students are always blaming the surroundings but I feel the student crowd itself lacks the enthusiasm to do so. Students need to be motivated enough so that college instills a trust to provide the demanded resources.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is a little traditional. The college is trying to incorporate new updated trends but they have a long way to go trying to have a curriculum which suits today's world scenarios. Exams are way too much than how it should be. The overall grade for a subject is calculated thourough the weightages of both internal and external tests accounting to a percentage of 50 each. Externals are the end sem exam and the internals include a series of thouree cycle tests, submission of assignments and a surprise tests. So it leaves student very mininmum time to stop concentrating on earning marks and actually try to learn the subject.

Placement Experience

4.5

Currently Barclays came for internship opportunity and gave 66,700 as stipened. Another company named Siemens came and gave 15,000 as stipened. All sorts of companies with varying packages come for internship and placement. My college has a record of giving placements to more than 95 percent of its students.

College Events

3

The most prestigious of them is the SRM Ramapuram Model United Nations, Texus (Cse Department Technical fest) and Stringz (Cultural Fest). Owing to the amount of students studying, it generates a crowd of 1000-2000. Also all the organisation committees are dedicated and goal oriented.

Fee Structure And Facilities

SRM does take in huge bucks but referring to other private colleges in and around India and for the name it has, 2,00000 is fine to pay. However they also take 15,000 for books and 15,000 for value added course which is unnecessary.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since SRM is pretty big brand name, getting a loan from outside reputed banks is not a big issue. I am currently on a student loan issued by SBI. From the college itself they issue scholarships to students academically meritorious and students bright in other activities.

Campus Life

3.5

With respect to Ramapuram, Chennai campus, the college is making a gradual growth in that domain. From my 1st year till date, it's remarkable how we have come from almost nothing to lots of cultural and sports activities around. Also, the authorities is very strict when it comes to discrimination on grounds of above said entity so it creates a very safe environment for students. Students are respected in the campus.

Alumni/Alumna

SRM has pretty good network when it comes to alumunus and senior students and its uniform accross all the campuses. Right from actors, directors to people working in Microsoft, it gives you the right connect in the corporate world.

Admission

A common entrance test was taken and according to the marks scored, a rank was assigned and the counselling dates for the same where you choose which campus you want to study in with consideration whether you can get your desired subject, branch and campus. I missed out my couselling, however when it got over they put it on online counselling with remaining no of seats for each branch in each campus. I then paid my admission fees online and got my provisional lettter.

Faculty

3.5

They are quite into their job and does it right. Each one of them has a PhD which makes them qualified enough to teach us. A plan is issued out for every subject. Some teachers however are a little bit unreasonable but in general the entire faculty is adequate.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.
