Remarks

I don't see any negatives for that matter. I have seen other government institutions and I feel ipgmer is no doubt a very premium one. Less batch size increases hands on exposure and teacher student ratio is amazing

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Weekly, quarterly and yearly exams take place. Weekly and quarterly exams are internally conducted. Final exams are conducted by the university at an external location which is usually another medical College.

Placement Experience

4

Compulsory rotatory internship is a part of the curriculum and this occurs in various departments. The salary is very good at an intern level it's easy to earn atleast 20000 per month. This is one of the best salaries in India.

College Events

4.5

Various events and conferences commonly take place. foundation day is an annual practice. Student fest nowadays is a well defined event. Freshers welcome and sports tournaments are also commonly conducted.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Minimal fee is charged. As this is a fully funded by the gov't college, they only charge a token fees. The hostel fees and everything is subsidised. If you get in this college then fees will not be your concern

Fees and Financial Aid

There is no scholarship. As said earlier you won't be requiring one. If unable to pay fees you can even postpone your payment till internship money starts coming in. Some caste based scholarship programs are in place in accordance with gov't rules

Campus Life

5

Bengal culture is one of the most liberal for students. You won't face any discrimination for that matter. All teachers like to be civil with there students. There is absolutely nothing like ragging in ipgmer. In case there is there are proper redressal mechanism

Hostel Facilities

4

The Hostel fees are laughable. Around 12 Rs / month. Rooms are dingy but a new mbbs hostel is in place and looks swanky. We have a hostel warden who sorts out these issues related to allotment etc.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes the alumni is newer than are g kar and other colleges but they are doing a good job. Annual functions are being held. Most commonly everyone meets at the nearby Calcutta club. Rest it's an evolving group so we have to wait and watch.

Admission

I sat for wbjee, the other option is neet ug. These exams take place right after your class twelve boards. The minimum requirement is to have physics, chemistry, math and biology as your boards subjects. Rest depends on your rank.

Faculty

4

Like all colleges you will find both good and bad faculties but I was lucky to be a student of great and inspiring teachers all of whom are doing very well professionally also. The teaching environment is absolutely impeccable nothing like I've heard in other colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite planned and great and has a lot of advantages in having a clinical and learning diagnostic approach to various diseases. One area where the curriculum can improve is by having more practical classes rather than theoretical classes. The exams are quite difficult but are quite planned to make you understand the clinician and the passing percentage is 50 percent.
