Remarks

College management was good. Few things were not good was the infrastructure when I joined was in bad condition though by the time I was leaving that 2 floored building became giant 6 floored college so it is good for coming students in future and present.

Entrance Preview

I liked the timings of this college, and I liked the location to, which was near my home. The college is one of the oldest institute, earlier it used to be known as Birla College, later on which came to be known as Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose college. It is affiliated With Calcutta University so the education is a well class one.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum was good, faculty was friendly, only thing that lagged was proper system, with too much chaos. Overall the institute is well managed. I opted for Marketing in commerce and I'm glad today that I had taken a subject in which I scored above 70s without books and studying online. Though scoring above 60 is rate in CU university.

Internships Opportunities

Generally there were no companies as it was just a commerce college, but at present I'm working at Concentrix daksh earlier known as IBM daksh, and I am one of the top performers.

Placement Experience

1

As mentioned above no campusing or placements were done. Only one consultancy had came which was a general consultancy. Though few got jobs after that, but mostly the type of jobs were that are easily achieved from walk-ins. So, again it was helpful but not something which was out of the box.

College Events

2.5

Every year there use to be fresher's party. It used to be really good one, but it was sad that half of the students were never aware of these events. In a high tech era it would have been better if college had opted for messaging serive, though there was messaging service but not all the time we use to get alerts. I wish there was msg alerts for all occasions.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fess structure was good. It was only 10,000 for a year which was affordable, though other colleges in Kolkata charge around 6 to 8k(8000). Again, depending on the location the fees were fine.

Fees and Financial Aid

No scholarship programs were provided, however discounts for OBC,SC,ST were there which was of no use to them as they belonged to well to do families.

Campus Life

4

As it was not an engineering college but it did had a lab for science graduates, but as I was not a part of science I never visited the science lap. Library was good but there were to many restrictions which was again bit irritating.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

There was no canteen at the college, therefore a hostel was out of the question. I hope there were better services in Kolkata and entire India, e-shiksha is doing great job but conducting such survey as it is helpful to remember my own college days now.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students were fine but they were only into politics and e.t.c which was a hindrance for college success. The exam forms or results were distributed in an un organized way which use to waste time and make students wait for hours under sun.

Exam Structure

Exams structure was good. The process was nice. Exams were held thrice a year, and projects were also given to complete. So, overall examination experiences use to be good.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty was friendly and supportive, but as all the five fingers are not same so were the faculties of my college. They were carefree and didn't bothered how their students performed. Though, few were too careful and always ready to assist.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
