Could improve the curriculum, better staff for the hostels.
Course Curriculum Overview
Although the faculty and the facilities available were good, i felt that the curriculum in my course was outdated and basic and hasn't equipped me to be a professional engineer, although i can't speak for the other courses. There were multiple practical courses but again i felt they were more of an introductory nature.
Placement Experience
The placements were good even though I did not avail them. My friends have found placements in a wide variety of companies with a range of packages.
College Events
There were many events in the college. Tech tatva is one where they hold workshops and games and many other events and it goes on for a week. Revels is the main fest that also goes on for a week that brings in many performers, includes workshops and games and other events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It depends on the student. Many students come from middle class families and could afford the fees, while it would be a bit too much for the many poorer students in the country. NRI students have to pay a much higher fee and all in dollars. There are different methods of paying the fees
Fees and Financial Aid
Haven't opted for any loans or scholarships but there are scholarships given to the highest performing students according to their GPA
Campus Life
Campus life was good, there were many freedoms that weren't available in other colleges. It was a small town filled with students, there was always something to do. There were many sports teams and sporting facilities. The gender ratio wasn't too good especially in my course with around 5% females.
Admission
I wasn't too sure about what to take, mechanical engineering seemed like a safe bet. I chose this institute because it ranked well, many of my friends were there/going there and my father was an alumnus. The entrance process was via the manipal entrance exam, followed by a waitlist process.
Faculty
There were a lot of faculty in my course especially. Most of them were PhD students, while there were other seasoned faculty. I found some of them really good and some lacking, it all depends. There were some who did have industry experience and found thier knowledge informative.
