Entrance Preview

There was no entrance exam to get into the programme. Being passionate about language, I always knew that I wanted to engage with language. My marks were good and that was all that was required. The entire admission process was stress free.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum was intellectually stimulating and carefully designed to give us a thorough foundation in literary studies. The different genres had complete papers dedicated to them and the socio-economic and historical background enable us to see the nexus between literary texts and the production of knowledge. The elective I had chosen was Psychology. The subject is exciting but the course was completely theoretical. A practical component would have been very welcome.

Internships Opportunities

There were no campus interviews in those days and the no stipend for internship. However, the teachers gladly wrote recommendation letters for us and suggested areas of further research.

Placement Experience

1.5

As mentioned earlier, in those days there were no campus interviews. We looked for jobs independently and chose what seemed best. As a teacher in Alexander High School for Girls, my first salary was Rs. 500/-.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was affordable even for a lower middle class person. All through my college years, I paid Rs. 700 to 750 as fees. For the economically underprivileged students, there were all kinds of scholarships available.

Fees and Financial Aid

I won the Hamil Memorial Scholarship for having secured the highest marks in English Literature in Inter-Arts. The Scholarship amount was Rs. 500 .

Faculty

4.5

The faculty was the best one could possibly have. We had teachers who taught Chaucer, Shakespeare and the Modernists in fascinating ways. They had varied styles of presentation but each of them was an expert in his/her field.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Quite substandard and below average. Prioritised rote learning over critical thinking. Just a rubber stamp for a degree. No actual education ever took place. Exams were anually or bi annually. Exams were difficult if you cannot write 30 pages in 3 hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculam is designed for all round development of the student and to make that person an expert in that field, these aspects influeneced me to choose it. Very well, with extra paper of real world application on each subject it ensures that we take something from the course and become industry ready The teachings methods and cirriculam are excellent I don't think any changes are required Exams are all year round, every month and are extremly difficult to deal with, as Xavier's bar is very high.

Yes, there is no specific place where we get to know that whether the college is open or not on a specific day like the day which has been declared closed by the government. The college doesn’t provide this facility for us. We have to move all towards our home to the college to get this thing.
