Remarks

The campus is small and the canteen is almost non existent, but that should not stop I've from being a part of this lovely place.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The syllabus is updated every semester. We study what the industry currently demands and work on real time projects to do the same. Eg. A 360° news bulletin. We have a 70 marks theory paper for each subject with 30marks internals. Attendance of 75% in each subject is compulsory. I got placed in NEWS 9 and there are a lot of placement opportunities for people.

Placement Experience

4

There are a lot of companies that come for placements but the placement department somehow turns a blind eye towards my department and focuses on BBA. No placement training is provided and they expect you to do a compulsory internship in the second and first year. I interned with this organisation called Inspiron for 2 months and now got placed in news 9 as an assistant producer

College Events

5

We have a freshers day, an international management day, model United Nations conferences, media conferences for research paper presentation, Thoureshold: the management fest, Melange: the media fest, Lasya: the cultural fest, Precipice: the international management fest, Yuva ignited minds: the college NGO, Verve: the intra college cultural fest, Lumiere: the intra college media fest, Protege: the intra college management fest, confluence: the English club, Collossium: the English literature fest, sports day, CMS cup, achievers' day, graduation day, convocation, ethnic day, children's day, onam celebrations, student exchange program with HMKW University, Germany, and an international visit for the top 75 students of the final years.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is a little above feasible but it's not very expensive either. They charge around 1.5lac a year for a BA professional course which is worth it, unlike the BBA degree, for which they charge almost 2lac a year. But considering the kind of exposure they provide and the way the studio and the labs are maintained, it's worth it.

Fees and Financial Aid

Although I haven't applied for scholarship, the college does provide it for students who excel in either their fields of expertise or in studies.

Campus Life

2.5

Although the campus isn't huge, the campus Life is Just too good. The people, the teachers and the management are all very cooperative. There are various teams that one can be a part of. Starting from the cms mun team, the cultural fest team, the management fest team, yuva ignited minds team, the confluence team, the media fest team, sports teams, hospitality and logistics team, sponsorship team, toastmasters International, which is a value added program as well and much more. The college has a very well equipped studio, library and computer labs.

Hostel Facilities

3

No. I am a localitie. The hostels are very well kept. They have several hostels across the city and the students are free to choose their hostel. There are about 6 hostels in the city and they come under the campus students committee (CSC). I'm not quite sure about the fee structure for the hostels

Alumni/Alumna

Everyone is cooperative. Alumni are always available to provide guidance with regards to all our work in college.

Admission

It's the only reputed college to provide a professional degree in journalism and mass communication. I applied for CMS in April 2017 and wrote the JET (Jain entrance test), which was followed by an interview. I opted for this course because I wanted to get into hardcore media production.

Faculty

4.5

We have only 2 sections per batch and thus the faculty of my department is 10 teachers, who are totally able and very highly skilled individuals who know the industry trends to impart the same to us. I participated in a few certification courses like monetising a blog and film making. It's an ocean of opportunities.

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
