Course Curriculum Overview
MNNIT Allahabad offers multiple courses which include the following courses: 1. Bachelor of Technology: a) Computer Science & Engineering b) Electronics & Communication Engineering c) Information Technology d) Electrical Engineering e) Mechanical Engineering f) Chemical Engineering g) Civil Engineering h) Production & Industrial Engineering c) Biotechnology 2. Master of Technology in 25 specializations across all the departments. 3. Master of Computer Applications (Computer Science Department) 4. Master of Science in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. 5. Master of Business Administration 6. Ph.D. across all departments The course curriculum is well organized as per the industry standards and requirements. The course curriculum includes new generation technology as well as the basics of the technologies. Like in the case of Operating systems, the curriculum starts with the basics of operating systems and covers Linux and all other operating systems. Students are exposed to various workshops and seminars for modern technologies like IoT, Blockchain, Data Science, robotics etc. Apart from the course curriculum, there is a department-wise student club that imparts modern-day technology knowledge with students. These clubs inculcate the learning attitude among the students. The knowledge gained thourough the course curriculum and these clubs are quite helpful in on-campus placements. Apart from these, the training and placement cell of the college guides the students for placements, creates opportunities for internships, industrial visits, and final placements.
Placement Experience
The placement statistics of the college is great. Students get lots of opportunities to grab their dream job with lucrative pay/perks. More than 300 companies visit the campus for campus placements which includes Google, Amazon, Uber, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Intel and many more. Apart from private IT firms, a lot of consultancies, investment banks and PSUs participate in the placement process recruit from all branches. The placement process involves generally the following processes: 1. Online/Written Test 2. Group Discussion 3. Interview - Technical rounds (Face to Face or Video Conferencing) 4. Interview - hour/ Managerial rounds (Face to Face or Video Conferencing) The college have dedicated Training and Placement cell which takes care of the placements and internships process on the campus. The placement cell has a team which helps the students to improve their soft-skills and inter-personal skills.
College Events
The college organizes multiple events to make college life more energizing, learning and memorable. Following are the major events organised in the campus: 1) Avishkar: Avishkar is the annual Techno-Management fest of the college. It is organised generally in the month of September and lasts for 5 days and expects a footfall of around 20000. The event starts with talks with some founders, co-founders, celebrities and scientists. Students from various colleges participate in various events like robotics, hackathon, designing and various other competitions. 2) Culrav: Culrav is the annual cultural fest of the college. It is organized in the month of February and lasts for 5 days. Culrav has emerged as the most resplendent college based fest in Northern India and as one of the most awaited cultural event of the country. It includes breathtaking competitions, glamorous pro-nites and appealing informal events due to which it has attracted humongous footfall from colleges all over the country. The likes of "Farhan Akhtar, "Piyush Mishoura " and "Vinay Pathak" have graced Culrav’s stage along with exhilarating performances from “The Local Train”, ”Shirley Sethia”, "DJ Marnik" and many more. 3) Renaissance: It is the annual E-Summit of the college under the aegis of E-Cell. It is organised to showcase the innovative ideas of an individual or a group of individuals in areas related to the development of new products/goods for the benefit of mankind and/or novel approaches addressing social issues for inclusive development of the society. It also intends to bring together technologists, engineers, medical professionals, business analysts to develop all inclusive innovation that creates an impact on the quality of life thourough talks,discussions and workshops. Past speakers include various founders and co-founders. Apart from these events, the college oraganizses TED Talks, Swagat (Fresher's Party), Rukhsat (Farewell Party) and Annual Alumni Convention each year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The program fee is very nominal in compare to other NITs and IITs. Tution fee is 70000 INR for a year. Fee can be paid thourough Chalan, Demand Draft and Net banking. SWIFT transfer is the mode of payment for foreign students. The fee breakdown is absolutely transparent. Apart from the tution fee, there are a few other nominal charges for other facilities including library, transport etc. Very minimal fee is charged for the facilities on the campus. The total fee can be summed to approx 82000 per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college doesn't offer any scholarship/loan. However, the top 10% students in every department from every batch receive Rs 3k per annum. It should be noted that state governments offer scholarships for the students for respective states. The scholarship sum varies from 60k to 100k from state to state. Apart from the state governments, the central government offers a scholarship to students under the aegis of the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Various NGOs offer scholarships to meritorious and underprivileged students namely Foundation For Excellence (FFE), A world of opportunity foundation (AWOO). Samsung star scholarship is a unique scholarship available for students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV). 200k INR is offered per annum under this scholarship scheme.
Campus Life
The campus life is colorful, blissful and vibrant. The people there are very open and charming. You can find people from every corner of the country and around 1000 foreign students. The gender ratio is 8:1 (Boys:Girls). There are various societies in the college namely Robotics club, Arts committee, Folk dance committees, Music committee, Fashion and Modeling committee, photography club, computer club for coding culture development, E-cell etc. Students from all ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, and economic status are integral part of the campus.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, I had opted for the hostel. The college has capacity to accommodate more than 10000 students in hostels. It has 8 boys hostels and 3 Girls hostels. Apart from that, it has an International house for research scholars. Hostel for 1st year students is a 8 floor building having capacity or around 1000 students. The hostel has common rooms at each floor for Table-Tennis, Carrom, TV and Reading room. It has dedicated cafeteria and general store. For other hostels have a Student Activity Center (SAC) which houses all these facilities. Rooms in all the hostels are on sharing basis, however, final year students get single rooms. Hostel fee is 30k per annum which includes accommodation and food. At the end of the session, the students get a refund of around 5k-7k from their hostel fee.
Alumni/Alumna
The college has a strong alumni base. The alumni of the college are at various crucial positions of the leading companies/institutes of the world. They are very helpful. They are always there to help their juniors, seniors and college in all respects. Annual Alumni Convention is organized every year to make our alumni base stronger and more connected. In these meets, we get to interact with our alumni which highly impact our lives. Apart from on-campus alumni meet, there are meets held in almost all major cities of the country where local alumni are gathered and discuss major issues and developments.
Admission
A national level exam (Joint Entrance Exam - JEE Main/Advanced) is conducted across India and few cities of the world for admission to the IITs, NITs, and IIITs, the most reputed colleges of India. Around 1.5 million candidates appear for the entrance exam for some 30k seats across the colleges. The examination is held in the 1st week of April each year. Questions from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are asked in the exam. The results are declared in the month of June generally. Then, online counseling is done. Candidates are required to opt for the colleges and courses preference wise. The candidates are intimated about the colleges and courses they are selected for. At last, the admission is done in the 3rd-4th week of July in their respective colleges. MNNIT Allahabad is one of the best NITs in the country for engineering courses. To admission in the college, a candidate requires around AIR 3000 to 12000 for different courses. I secured AIR 5448 and got Electronics & Communication Engineering as my stream. The placement statistics, faculty profile and fee structure made me chose the college.
Faculty
The college have around 300 faculty members. The faculties in the college are well-learned and many of them have industry experiences. All the faculties have industry projects and they involve students in the projects which make students ready for the industry. The average age of the faculties is around 45 years and most of them are P.hD. NET qualified. Each year few faculties undergo visiting faculty program to foreign colleges.
