Excellent college for study

NGM college is an autonomous Institution supported by government of Tamilnadu. Initiated by a great person, Pollachi N.Mahalingam, college maintains its standard from 1965. College admission will be finished on 1st day of announcement of results. I could say getting an admission in NGM college is wonderful and the student is lucky. No negative remarks I have found.

I didn't write any entrance examination for getting admission into this college. Admission was purely based on merit. They considered Higher Secondary Course (HSC/12th) Marks for admission. I secured 194 in Chemistry and hence got admission to study B.Sc Chemistry during the period 2003-2006

NGM College is an Government Aided Autonomous Institution affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. The course which I studied was B.Sc Chemistry. Curriculum framed by the college was very standard on par with the great institutions like Government University, other best colleges of Tamilnadu. It covered Organic, Inorganic, Industrial, Physical Chemistry and more subjects.

Since my education was under graduation I couldn't get any paid internships. But I had opportunity to visit companies like sakthi soyas pollachi, bannariamman sugars, sathyamangalam and palakkad distilleries which dealt with liquors. During 2003, there was no much information regarding internships.

Placements all over the college was very good information technology companies offered many jobs to the students during 2006 itself. Companies like Wipro, Infosys, Satyam, Mahindra British Telecom visited the campus and recruited students. Package was also good. It varied from 1.5 lac per annum to 3 lac per annum.

Every year they celebrate technical and cultural events technical event will be organized by various departments separate and cultural events were celebrated by the whole college. Functions were not that much grand celebrated but was very good and enjoyable.

Since the course is under aided college, fee was very affordable and very less. I had only less than Rs.5000 during all the semesters. I spent only a maximum semester fee of Rs. 30,000 during whole course. Apart from this i paid only the exam fee. Also College trust offered me 50% concession for two semesters considering my performance in the semester exams.

Yes college provided two kinds of scholarships facilities to the students namely, TN government scholarships and 50% semester fee concession for many students who are from poor family and who are good in academic and sports related events many students were benefited by the above scholarships. For the students who cant pay fee at a stretch, fee can be paid in installments according to the parents convenience.

Apart from course curriculum, college conducted so many events. They focused on many extra curricular activities like sports, games, National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC) and many more. They conduct sports and games events every year and give prizes for the winners and runners. Students were also encouraged to participate in zonal and district level sports and games.

I didnt stay at hostel. But I know details regarding the hostel since my friends were staying at the hostel. Environment was very good to stay and enjoy. Accommodation and mess fee was only below Rs.25,000 for the whole academic year. We had gym, recreation facilities and others inside the hostel itself. Neatness were also commendable.

Alumni could interact very well with many students they are friendly. Even now I have contact with 3 seniors they help me select higher studies, find out jobs and involve in social network related activities like Facebook, LinkedIn etc.

Examinations were semester wise we had proper schedule for all the exams. Dates and schedule will be informed at the right time and well before the exam commences. We also had enough gap between each exams and laboratories. Hall arrangements were also very standard and we felt very comfortable.

Faculty members were very friendly and had good knowledge towards the subject. Most of them are under aided category. They supported me in all parts of the course. We had seminars, conferences organized by our faculties. I learnt subject very well with their guidance. They also helped me during laboratory sessions.
