Mahatma Gandhi University - [MGU] Meghalaya Review

The college environment is very supportive and the university life is engaging and interesting for the students. The amenities and infrastructure of the college are great and facilitates learning in many ways.

The course curriculum is designed to give both practical as well as theoretical knowledge in the indigenous as well as foreign legal traditions. It is a 135 credit five-year course which is divided into 10 semesters. The university offers many courses in other disciplines as well.

Individuals can work as attorney generals, judges, public prosecutors, etc. Studying BA. LLB at MGU equips with the knowledge and skills one needs in an increasingly competitive legal market. Placement counseling is provided.

Freshmen socials, interdepartmental cultural competitions, and other national day celebrations take place. The most exciting event is Freshmen social as it helps students to meet other first years and make friends.

The fees for the BA LLB program is Rs. 22,000 per semester and is quite affordable compared to other universities. Scholarships are also available to girls and students from low-income backgrounds. Scholarships are available to students belonging to any category (SC/ST/OBC etc.)

The extracurricular activities are encouraged by the course and course material provided by the university saves time and helps students engage in extra-curricular activities. The sports facilities both indoor and outdoor are up to the mark and well maintained. The students at the university are from different states and thus you get to meet students from different cultures.

I was selected from the merit list prepared based on my national entrance exam CLAT. I did not have to appear for MGU-GET as I had CLAT scores. After that, I appeared for the interview and counseling round. An application fee of INR 1000 is required along with the application form initially.

The faculty of the college are well qualified as most of them hold LLM degrees and are very helpful. The teaching through moot courts makes the learning interactive and faculty pay attention to the individual growth of students. All the teaching faculty are always available for help.
