Sri Divya's Review On Pioneer Kumaraswamy College, Nagercoil

It is a good college, no doubt. the students get to learn a lot of things, and there is a very healthy study atmosphere in our college. Apart from theoretical studies, our college also focuses on all round development of the students. Students graduating from this college also get good placement opportunities, or opt for higher studies in premium universities of the Country or abroad.

Our College provides a detailed course curriculum, so as to maximize student's learning. Our course syllabus is in line with the syllabus approved by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. There is quite strictness with regard to attendance, and all students are required to attend class regularly. All working days in our college have two sessions of classes, with each period extending to 1 hour, and the two sessions are divided by a lunch break. Exams are held twice in a year following the semester system.

Our college do provide for placement opportunities to the students. There is an active placement cell, and it constantly works towards informing the students about current career opportunities, as well as provides opportunities for the students to participate in various programmes organized by recruiters and other recruit drives organized by other institutions. Our college also allows students to do internships with various organisations.

Our College has a number of separate clubs and associations, which are involved in arranging various events throughout the year. The Pioneer Quiz club conducts quiz competitions among the students, the Circle for Knowledge Drive enagages in various activities and training and lecture programmes, and the Red Ribbon Club conducts various out reaching activities, seminars and awareness programmes about health and hygiene. Apart from that, there are a number of other workshops, residential camps and events that take place in the college.

The fees structure for the B.Com course as offered by our college is quite reasonable. The total course fees comes at around Rs. 65,000. The examination fees are charged in addition to the course fees, but that too is very reasonable.

There are many extra-curricular activities that are conducted by our college. We have the extension activities clubs like the Red Ribbon Club, Youth Red Cross Club, Rotaract Club, Citizen Consumer Club, and Blood Donor Club, which constantly arrange for awareness programmes and other skill development programmes for thew students. Our college has well maintained laboratory and library facilities as well.

Our seniors in college were really helpful. Our college has a good senior-junior relationship, and we have found our senior always by our side in case of any need. The alumni of our college is also quite active, and they engage regularly in arranging various events in our college, as well as hep out the students whenever required.

The Pioneer Kumaraswamy College is affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. It offers a number of courses in Arts, Commerce and Science streams. The basic eligibility criteria for admission is that the student must have passed the Class XII boards (10+2) exam. I got admitted in the UG course of Bachelor of Commerce, which is a 3 years full-time course. My admission was solely on the basis of my Class XII boards marks. There is no interview process, and I was admitted on my submission of application form along with the prescribed admission fees.

The Department of Commerce in our college has a number of highly qualified and well-experienced faculty members. All our professors are Doctorates, and possesses a number of other qualifications as well. Their way of teaching is really helpful for the students. Our teachers guided us completely throughout our course, and taught us with extreme dedication.
