Remarks

The school gives every student exposure to either develop and succeed in life or waste away their time by focusing on extracurriculars only. They aim for a holistic development of every individual. They provide the resources for most creative ventures.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is spread though 3 years with 2 semesters a year. The course encourages individual and collective development. The faculty is always ready to help and this makes the curriculum lighter than how it seems in the prospectus. Exams are conducted on said dates without fail and results are also published on time. MG University is known for irresponsible handling of exams and results but the college is autonomous and therefore does not have any such problems.

Placement Experience

4.5

Our college not providing placements. Some company are come to our college but not taking all students. Top students are only profit to placement and other students are not going company through placement.

College Events

4

The events held depend mostly on the student's union and the chairperson. Events are held by individual departments, the college as a whole or by external organisations. International seminars, invested talks by top personalities of different fields and inter collegiate tests are the more academic events. Arts day, dance and music competitions, band events, and several unique programs like costume parties are the cultural festivities. Clubs are also formed to bring together like minded people and these club members hold events of their own from time to time.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible even for students getting admission in management quota. The students with reservation get a stipend every semester to support their educational financing. The general quota students in merit seats have to pay 15, 000 or below every semester (according to the need for lab practicals; BA English students seem to have the lowest fees).

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware of these facilities because I am a general quota students. The students with reservation and the students with too merit are provide scholarship by the college management and by external agencies working through the college.

Campus Life

4

The college is accepting in many ways. The college encourages participation of women in all activities and does not restrict them. The college is also accepting of others sexual orientation. A student interested in sports or extra curriculars could reach hights through the college teams.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

I would strongly NOT recommend the college hostel facilities for girls. The small rooms are too crowded with nearly six beds in each(bunks). The girls are asked to get inside the hostel at 5 which hampers their ability to take part in extra curricular activities( and it is downright idiotism to do so). The girls hostel provides meals and the cost is included in the monthly fees. The boys hostel seems to get better feedbacks. Boys are allowed to roam till 10. 30 or 11. The boys hostel does not provide meals.

Alumni/Alumna

There is little to no connection with the alumni whatsoever. But the faculty conduct get-together for the alumni students. the students help the faculty in inviting them for the event but their is little interaction between the alumni and the present students.

Admission

The selection is divided into 4 categories to fill Merit, reservation, sports and management seats. The students applying on merit will be selected solely on merit and extra points from co-curricular achievements. Reservation seats will be given according to MG University guidelines. Students applying based on merit will go though a selection process for their respective sports on a said date. Management seats are given based on merit even though it is influenced by the donations given.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty are very much like the students and are interested in open discussions and sharing of opinions. They do not force hectic schedules on the students. Most of the work given to students will encourage students to work on their own on subjects they like. Though certain teachers are sometimes given management responsibilities they always find time for students who need help.

The curriculum is suitable for the modern age of teaching, the way of education is well balanced with projects, assignments, presentations and also notes .we have reading assignments where the faculty members ask us to read an entire book and give our review on it.the exams are quiet moderate and in my opinion teachers should use more ai tools as a learning aid which will be more effective for the students

Placement Experience:

From the last semester pass out we a re eligible for the campus recruitment for job or placement. So many companies visit us for the interview or some checking like , hero honda , maruti suzuki etc. the main reason for it was a low amount of budget is that get from this placement maybe 15 thousand let month ect. Only the company can take the students for it so the percentage of the students who getting placement will change in every year. My plan was to get an admission in the central government University for doing master of degree in History. And try the best exam called upsc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are many aspects of the curriculum that infulenced my decision to choose BA English Literature in St. Berchmans College. Their syllabus is far more challenging and interesting than what other colleges and universities offer in Kerala. The examinations and overall assessment of projects and grades are top-tier and is comparatively difficult to obtain. The course steadily provides good quality information and knowledge on English Litearture and readies the student to be more than qualified for further studies in English Literature or any related courses. The areas where they can improve in the course curriculum is through availing more optional courses such as various other language courses/philosophy related courses to be selected. Their teaching environment can also be improved by improving basic infrastructure in the classrooms such as airflow etc. They conduct their exams freequently and on time. The examinations are challenging but necessary for overall improvement in students
