AKGEC : Over-Rated

Overall AKGEC is a good and reputed college in NCRegion and UPTU. A very effective administration and discipline among students.Placement is not very satisfying and so are the faculty members.

I took UPSEE-2012, and got 4513th rank in that exam, then I chose AKGEC, because of its reputation at that time and location in the NCR region.

The Curriculum undertaken here is average, mainly focussed on the attendance of the students rather than academic performance of the individual.Attendance means a lot here, even if you are an 80+ in here, short attendance can get you debarred from the placement drives. It can also rule you out from appearing in the exams internal and external both.Every event taking place in the college somehow relates to the attendance of the participants and the coordinators.

I dont have sufficient knowledge about this.But there are Industrial centres such AKGEC-NI, Bosch-Rexroth, eYantra, Siemens lab, that provide internships to the students on the basis of their profiles and eligibility.

Placement of the college can be rated as average, where almost 90% of the CS/IT students are placed in reputed companies or startups at average package around 3 LPA, on the other hand branches like Civil, mechanical, electronics are struggling to get placed in the core companies.Even those who want placement from Mechanical, EC, EN or civil, they have to compromise with their branch and join an IT firm or BPOs.

Events in the college include-Cultural: Vibrations(Last held in 2014)Tech Fest: Tech Trishna.Technical Presentation: Scrolls(Inter College)Miscellaneous: Blood Donation Camp, Poster making, Saksham(Sports week) All the Events excepts scrolls are basically Intra level and do not encourage participation from other colleges

Fee structure is not very high as compared to other colleges. It surely is feasible. Average Expenditure ranges around 2 lacs per annum within this hostel and mess fee is included and some other charges also. Security is refundable and charged only once during first year.

Scholarships are available for the students, whose family income is less than 2.5 lacs per annum. Loans are the also easily available for the students whose family are unable to pay fee due to weak financial condition or any other reason.

There are lot of cultural and technical societies concerned with different branches. If you have interest in sports and other activities, you would be enjoying the campus life. Saksham is a sports fest which happens annually and do give you an exposure.There is separate society(club) for various interests.Gender ratio is well balanced in every year students making a very diverse atmosphere for any student to jell in.

Hostels are well spread and have attractive infrastructure but limited seats make it difficult for some students and compel them to live outside.Hostel is allotted on first come first basis.Hostel fee is not charged to those living outside in private hostels or PGs. Mess food is average in taste on most of the days, and better on weekends.

A proper alumni connect is maintained to stay in touch with the alumnus. Seniors often play an important role in AkGEC. As they guide you through the college in your very first days in college and become your mentors and help you join different clubs.

Two sessionals, One Pre university and end semester exams take place during a course of each semester. The labs are of no real help as they keep you busy in writing files. The PCB lab is the individual lab where one can learn something but nobody is there to guide. The exam pattern is OK but the checking part in university is really bogus and uncertain

On an average 3 out of 10 faculty members are eligible to be referred as Profs or asst profs, rest of the faculty members are just taking lectures.Faculty members have sufficient knowledge but are unaware of the art of teaching.Although some faculties are so kind and helpful that having them around was a delight during all my four years.
