SGSITS - A Glimpse

Positives - College was established in the year 1952 in the heart of Indore. The railway station is 500 metres from the college and malls and markets are ample in a radius of 2 kms. Cleanliness is paramount in SGSITS and there are many facilities that students can avail. The clubs are very active and senior junior relationships are good. Placements are getting better with every passing year.

My BBA course structure is very nice as we have few computer labs, practicals, and seminars for internals and record word they'll give 20 marks remaining 80 marks is for theory exam. They are total 6 semester exams for three years for an each semester subjects will change

The placements record in B. E. has been tremendous with 90%+ placements in CSE, IT. The highest package for placement season for B. E. 2019-20 was 22 LPA and the average was 7 LPA. Companies like Goldman Sachs (22 LPA), Deloitte(7. 6 LPA), Quantiphi (9. 5 LPA), Nuclei (20 LPA), Ittiam(10. 9 LPA), Infosys, Wipro, Addverb, Idea-Vodafone, Eicher, Asian Paints, MuSigma, etc are regular recruiters from SGSITS.

The annual techno-cultural fest, AAYAAM is held in SGSITS each year where many events are organised for students from colleges across the city for 2-3 days, culminating with a cultural night. There are many competitions organised by various college clubs, and also students set up their own stalls with permission of the organising committee. There are national level management meetings and conferences held in the college. The college had its inaugural TEDx SGSITS in 2019.

The fee structure of the college is quite feasible and economically weaker students have provisions to get scholarships as well. For B. E. the semester fees is ?34, 000 for all the branches except Information Technology and Biomedical. For them, the fees is ?39, 000 per semester.

For SC / ST Students, whose parents annual income is Up to Rs. 2. 5 Lakhs per annum, there is Scholarship & Reimbursement of Tuition Fees etc as per Govt Rules. For SC / ST Students, whose parents annual income is above Rs. 2. 5 Lakhs per annum and upto 6. 5 LPA, there is No Scholarship & Only Reimbursement of 100% Tuition Fees etc as per Govt rules. For OBC students whose parents annual income is upto 3 LPA, there is Scholarship & Reimbursement of Tuition Fees etc as per Govt Rules.

There is a huge newly opened wooden flooring badminton and table tennis arena, a tennis court is under construction, good basketball court, gymnasium, volleyball and football fields, handball, etc. College clubs regularly organise events for students and there's a big frenzy around them. Gender ratio is 5:3, 5 being for boys. Cultural nights are organised in hostels from time to time. There are NRI students, North East students, students from South, from nearby States and MP in SGSITS. Religious tolerance is very high and there hasn't been any case of disputes regarding religion or caste or any other matter.

I stay in a Paying guest (room of 2) nearby college and I pay a rent of ?3500 per month which is quite good considering the locality. There are private hostels near the college as well with single rooms costing about ?4000 per month.

Alumni network is strong through LinkedIn and college Alumni Committee. There are regular reunions every year where students get to interact with the alumni for over 3 days. Alumni visits are accompanied with student greeting during regular college days. Seniors are quite friendly and very approachable. There's no atmosphere of fear, only respect. Alumni placed in companies which come for recruitment have a special briefing with us that makes us a lot more comfortable and clears our apprehensions.

I completed my 12th standard from Bhopal, hence I became a Madhya Pradesh state domicile holder. SGSITS, Indore (semi-govt) comes 3rd only after IIT, Indore and MANIT, Bhopal and is usually the first preference of engineering aspirants applying for state level counselling in the state of Madhya Pradesh. I gave JEE Mains and scored 166/360. Hereafter I applied for state level counselling where my first preference was ""Computer Science Engineering - SGSITS, Indore"" because of my interest in coding. Because of good marks in JEE Mains, I got my first preference.

The faculty is quite good with many IIT graduates, PhD holders. Barring one or two, every faculty is always there for clearing doubts and assisting students and quite interested in teaching. There is a faculty feedback system wherein every student has to fill a survey at the end of semester rating their course instructors on various parameters.
