ABV-IIITM A College review

My college has many positive points but it lags behind some factors like location. Still I think that I am at a very good place with an atmosphere of nerds all around. I would rate my college 8 on a scale of 10.

Course structure of my college is quite fluid and mainly focused on Information Technology field. We have all labs to equip us with practical knowledge. My college hosts ACM ICPC in India (one of the four centers for this prestigious coding competition). Thus we have a good coding environment too. We have exams thrice in a semester of 6 months with 2 minors and 1 major exam. Most of the times we feel chilled in college.

Placements and job opportunities in my college are ample. We got some students placed at 40 lacs per annum the last year. The companies that visited included Amazon, Nutanix, Google, Codechef, Infosys and many more. Our college also provides us with internships that have an average stipend of 15000. Many students do an internship in the 2nd year itself.

My college holds 2 fests annually. The first one is our ORA- cultural fest. On an average over 10000 people participate in the fest and it is one of the biggest fests of central India. We have Infotsav as our techno-managerial fest that hosts over 30 events and becomes home to over 5000 coders all over India.

Fee for my college is very feasible with about 1 lakh per semester. This includes our academic fees, labs charges, institute charges and one time fee. To be exact the fee is 84000 for 1 semester. The fee is very less being a government college and an Institute of national importance.

Our college provides the opening ranker with zero tuition fees. We also have a scholarship specifically for MP residents. Loans are provided by the college at no interest. Many of my friends availed for the loan facility.

Gender ratio is poor in my college but that is the case with every engineering college. We have many parties organized on a regular basis. For instance a new year party was celebrated. We also played Holi on Ganesh Chaturthi last year. Our college is a branch of IEEE and hence many workshops are organised in the college. We have an E-cell that organizes technical workshops and talks on regular basis. We have many clubs like Manchtantra, Utthan, AASF, Student Gyan Movement, E-cell, Robotics.

The hostels are compulsory to take being a residential college. We all have single rooms with good space. We have been provided with a study table and a cupboard. The infrastructure of the hostel is quite good with 24×7 electricity and water facility. We have 1 RO on each floor for drinking water. Each bathroom has a geyser.

We have a very strong alumni network and our college organizes an alumni meet every year. Our seniors are quite helpful and are always ready to tackle us out if any sort of problem. Ragging is not allowed in our college and hence we live with our seniors very peacefully.

I got admitted into this college through JEE-Mains 2019. I got 10265 CRL rank in this entrance exam and got a seat here. I chose BTech course over Integrated PG courses due to more scope in former. This course was launched here in the year 2017. To get here one also has to get a minimum of 75% marks in CBSE class 12th or equivalent in other boards. I got above 99 percentile in both of the JEE mains exams. in January and April. First I got a seat in Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh but I didn't like the course that I got. So I went into spot rounds and got into this college.

We have 100% Phd faculty in our college ranging from highly experienced teachers to newbies. Even the newbies make the course super interesting. Overall our faculty is very good. Infact one of our college's Professor Joydip Dhar mentored a team for ACM ICPC that qualified 3 levels of the competition. Our faculty is not only good but also very supporting as well as friendly.
