Remarks

The two years at IIMB were two of the best years of my life. It gave me the chance to compete with some of the best talent in the country. It gives one the chance to stretch and find out what one is truly capable of. It boasts some of the best faculty in

Entrance Preview

CAT Score: 99.97 percentile I had the choice of going to IIM B, IIM L, IIM K, IIM I. I chose to go to IIM Bangalore because it was the best business school among the options that I had and I preferred Bangalore as a city as compared to the others.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Courses were structured into core and elective courses. The first two trimesters had only core courses to give the basic foundations in marketing, operations, finance, organizational structure and accounting.

Internships Opportunities

I did my internship with Altisource Business Solutions. The general stipend levels offered range from 50k to 1lac per month. Companies that come for internships are McKinsey, BCG, AT Kearney, Bain, Booz, Deloitte, Accenture, Snapdeal, Flipkart, Amazon, HUL, P&G, Tata, Asian Paints, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, J P Morgan, HSBC, Bank of America, etc.

Placement Experience

5

IIMB has one of the best placements in the country. During my time, out of the 375 students in the batch, All students were placed in 3 days. Except for the investment banks all other companies mentioned in the summer internship list come for the final placements as well. Salaries range from 20lakhs/annum to 1 cr/annum.

College Events

4.5

The main cultural festival is called Unmaad and is one of the biggest campus festivals in the country. There are events organised by the Spicmacay chapters. There are regular sports tournaments organized between the other IIMs. Vista is the annual international business summit.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees during the 2010-12 batch was 15 lakhs. A good majority of the students took a scholar loan from SBI. Upon graduation most people have managed to pay off their loans in under 3 years.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a fee waiver policy for students who are economically challenged. There are also two prestigious scholarships - the ABG and O P Jindal Scholarships that are open to the top 20 incoming students. All students can avail of the SBI scholar loans for their education.

Campus Life

5

Gender ratio is well maintained due to the efforts of the admissions process to bring in more women. There is also some amount of diversity of the incoming profile as opposed to mostly engineers. The second largest representation is from B.Com/CA candidates. There is a fair amount of students from every state and there is no animosity in terms of religion or beliefs. There are enough and more parties - the Lsqaure parties are famous. There are industry speakers who are brought in as part of several course curriculum and there are regular coffee meets with alumni.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel rooms are separate for each individual. There are no rentals and the accommodation is included in the fees. The rooms are equipped with data cables, fans, cots, lights, cupboards. The rooms are quite spacious for a single person. There is no electr

Alumni/Alumna

IIMB has among the top 3 IIMs the weaker network of alumni. The strength of the alumini network is limited. But that is changing now with the Alumni office stepping up efforts to organize several forums and chapters that fosters alumni relationships. Senior students serve as strong mentors for the incoming batch particularly for summer internships, course choices and talent development.

Exam Structure

Exam structures are varied across subjects. Some subjects allot marks for Class participation. Some subject have no exams but assignments and projects. Finance subjects usually have two term exams and tests in between. Days are hectic with or without exam

Faculty

5

IIMB has a very strong faculty in the area of finance, control and economics. Some of the professors who are excellent include Prof. Shashidhar Murthy, Prof. Vivek Moorthy, Prof. G. Sabarinathan, Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, Prof. Narayanamurthy, Prof. Patra

Placement Experience:

Placements in the college are good for marketing specialization. Compared to other specializations, from semester 2 itself, students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Deloitte, KPMG, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank visit the campus. The highest package this year was 40 LPA, and the average package is around 6.5 LPA. The percentage of students getting placed is 70% for now. After getting the degree, selection in a good company is my plan.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered is moderate and there are limited opportunities for high paying roles compared to top tier colleges. Companies that visit the campus are mostly small to mid sized organizations. The placement cell is very supportive and conduct training sessions such as aptitude tests, mock interviews and soft skills development to prepare students for placements.

Placement Experience:

Placement in my college is decent, wiyh around 90% of students are getting placed. Students usually become eligible for placement in their final year and the college provides internships opportunities before that, which helps in gaining experience. Many companies visit to campus mainly from marketing and sales, along with some roles in HR and operations. The number of offer is good but option for finance and analytic are comparatively limited.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would like to rate the course 7 out of 10. Because as these is a distance learning many difficulties occur. I am doing a MBA in ksou after my graduation in b. Com. As ksou comes under UGT it is more helpful for the job seeker. As per my knowledge the faculty should conduct a more classes may be through online so that the working people can attend the classes from wherever they want. There are many distance learning courses in ksou academic platform but they are not handling in a accuracy. They take a lot of time to announce a results, even to conduct a exams they take a lot of time.
