Overall it is a pretty decent college.If the same college was at some good location it would have been very good.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is similar to most of the Indian colleges.At graduation level it is not research driven.Its just like the other colleges around nothing special.You do get industry specific knowledge and there are some subjects in the curricum which are taught in no other college or very few colleges.This makes you industry ready
College Events
Kaalrav:annual fest which is also the largest fest in North East India.Several known people come to entertain you. We have TEDx SMIT edition. We have food fests. Then departmental fest for every department like Echloen for ECE. WE HAVE TECH FEST CALLED TECH ADRISTA WHERE STUDENTS FROM SEVERAL COLLEGES PARTICIPATE AND COMPETE. Freshers fest.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structure is expensive. The course fee for CSE is 420000 per annum including hostel and mess charges,no additional charges. Other branches also have similar fee structure take or give 20000. The fee breakdown is transparent. Any medium of payment apart from cash is accepted.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes if you secure a percentage above 90 in 12th you will be given 30%relaxation on course fee.Above 80% the 20 % relaxation and above 70 then 10% relaxation. You need not additionally apply for it.It is automated.
Campus Life
Campus life is good.But the place is pretty isolated.No malls or movie halls nearby.Very few eating outlets and those are very expensive compared to their quality.No good shopping places nearby.You need to travel for atleast 1 hr 30 min to reach a proper shopping place ie Gangtok
Hostel Facilities
Yes.The hostel rooms are better than most of the colleges with attached washrooms.Only availiable on twin sharing basis.The hostel fee including mess per year is around 117000.There will be no shortage of rooms and every student wanting the hostel room will be alotted one.
Alumni/Alumna
We have annual alumni meed held every year.You can directly contact the alumni for help.There is an alumni group which anyone can join.
Admission
Through MAHE Exam.I wanted CSE which I could not get in Manipal,Karnataka due to my rank so I opted for this college as it was best in my domain. 1:Appear for MAHE OR SMIT offline test. 2:Get the rank for desired branch. The best branch here is CSE and its strength is around 200 per batch divided into 3 section with around 55 each.
Faculty
The average age of professors is around 45-65.Most of them are PHD.One of the best thing is you can contact them anytime for any help they will try their best to do it,including the director.Student faculty communication is very good.Yeah drawbacks are there but those are in every college.
